"Hmm?" Innocent eyes met Xi Er's benevolent ones.

"The Emperor somehow found out about you.....it remains a mystery as to how he found out.......but we'll leave it at that. Now back to the topic, he wants you to live with your family. Your true family. He knows your mother would love to see you. You've never met her before right? She misses you greatly."

"He's not going to kill me?"

"That was never his intention."

"Ahh......." That sigh bore relief and a lot of other emotions.

"You are leaving today."

"NO!" He flung himself back onto an astonished Xi Er. What was his problem this time? He thought Yao Yue would be shocked at first, then happy. He was finally going to live with dragons. Over here, with all the phoenixes, he was an oddball.

"NO! Just- NO! NEVER! I don't want to go!"

"Why not?"

"B-because.... Xi Er ge ge would be sad. And not just Xi Er ge ge...... Ying Rong ge ge.... Qing Fa ge ge.....everyone......everyone would be sad!" Tears were streaming down his cheeks as he looked into Xi Er's eyes.

"......Yao Yue...." Xi Er responded, this time, his face too was wet with tears.

They stayed that way for a while before Xi Er had to break the hug. His thumb affectionately wiped any drops that were on those cute little cheeks.

"I know it is difficult. It's hard for me too but we must remember, we are not saying goodbye to each other forever. Perhaps when you are grown up you can come and visit us?"

"A long time is forever! What if you die? What if I die? What if-" his sentence was deliberately cut short when several layers of paper, rolled into a scroll, smashed onto his head.

"Ow ow ow ow ow..... Ying Rong ge ge!"

Both turned their attention towards another similarly feminine looking man. The imposing manner in which he was standing along with the bright coloured robes he wore conveyed that he was quite a reputable figure.

"Don't say such things! For all we know, it's bad luck. And one more thing, it's Ying Rong 'Da Ge' alright?" he loomed.

"Ying Rong, don't be so harsh."

"My.....aren't you a true phoenix? Quiet and gentle and all that...." he muttered before reverting back to the normal rough, edgy voice he was so fond of using, "You there! Yao Yue! You'll make it fine, you're a dragon for crying out loud! Dragons are tough alright? Dying is out of the question. As for me and Xi Er, I'm more than capable of taking care of him alright? So leave without regrets."

Yao Yue gripped Xi Er's hand as if he'd just fallen off a cliff and Xi Er was the one saving him. Together, they marched outside where the phoenixes, all of them, stood in a row. As the two sauntered by, young and old, they fondly stretched their hands to the little dragon who reciprocated by stretching out his free hand to touch theirs. Their little one was leaving them. It was only normal to feel sad. At the end of the row was the Phoenix Empress herself and......

A man.

His appearance..... it was so different. He'd been living with men all his live. Well, feminine- looking men to be more precise.

Compared to them, he was tall and muscular, with well defined shoulders and strong features. Up close, Yao Yue noticed he had a bit of facial hair. Amazing, he'd always thought it looked somewhat stupid in drawings but this man had it just perfect.
