Dear Reader,
I assume you know who Princess Elise, Rose, and Lighting is?
If you do not, I will have to say that you must return to the front of the book, and read 'Before you Begin" before you begin to read this chapter.
Do not worry, reader, I will still be here when you get back.
However, if you, reader, had already read the beginning, you may now start reading again, and we shall waste no time getting into the story.
So there she is, Princess Elise, waiting patiently as maids twist, braid, and expertly pin her hair to her head.
You may think, that Elise was a very patient person, but in reality, it was killing her as she sat stiff as a board for the past hour.
It isn't easy to sit so straight for so long, yet our Princess Elise had to do it every morning. And yet, her back would ache afterwards, regardless of how many posture lessons she took.
So when the maids exit, it is no suprise that Elise slumps right over in her chair.
Unfortunatly, the princess had no time to relax, because it was soon time for breakfast. If she wasn't at the table by the time the King as seated, you wouldn't get breakfast.
It was a rule that Misstress, who taught them everything made the children follow.
Which also meant, that Elise had to get up at dawn, when the first rays of sun shone into her room.
Like I said, there is no electricity at this time, so all windows where as big as possible on order to let light in during the daytime.
Princess Elise was studying a few birds that were chirping outiside her window. She was engrossed in her thoughts-who knows what Princess was thinking about-when a soft knock on the door startled her.
"Princess Elise?"
"Yes!"
Princess Elise got up, smoothing out any wrinkles in her dress, she didn't want to be scolded first thing in the morning.
The door opened, revealing a short, plump woman. She was Isobelle, princess Elise's head maid.
"Princess, if we do not hurry, we will be late,"
That was all Isobelle had to say to get Elise moving. Because if there was anything our princess liked better than horseback riding, it was food.
Rushing through the hallways at an alarming speed, Elise got reached the table, the sweet scent of soup and bread hitting her nose as she took deep breaths from all that running.
Queen Victoria was already seated, along with Elise's sister Princess Devianne and brother, Prince Scott.
"Hurry, Elise, father will be here any moment!" Scott mentioned for her to sit.
Elise quickly plopped herself down on her usual cushiony seat, as soon as the King himself walked in, accompanied by guards.
"Good morining," King Henry greeted is family.
"Good morning, father," the three chilren responded in unison.
Breakfast at the palace was quiet most of the time, and it was usually gone without any big news.
So it was a bit of a suprise when Princess Devianne was called by her father.
"Devianne, dear?" the King asked.
She looked up from her bread.
"Yes, father?" she replied.
The King smiled, the wrinkles in his eyes defining.
