Baby, you don’t have to worry.
I’ll be coming back for you, back for you, back for you, you.
Lately, I’ve been going crazy.
So I’m coming back for you, back for you, back for you, you.
-One Direction
Harry’s POV
I reread the letter once more in my car. Sighing, I realized that I couldn’t send it. I couldn’t do something so rash to Veronica’s dad then end up taking his little girl away from him again. I didn’t have the heart. But I needed to do something to get Veronica back.
I rested my head on the steering wheel, crumbling up the letter. It fell to the floor in a crinkly heap. Then, I came up with the most amazing idea. Something I was sure would help me get my princess back.
I started my car and maneuvered my way out of the parking lot. I drove down the narrow street, looking for a florist. As if on cue, I spotted one a few feet away from the library. This town was small, but very homey and convenient.
“Can I help you young man?”
An elderly woman greeted me inside. She had light blonde curls that were cut into a bob and a red floral dress on.
I smiled at her. “Uh, yes. Can I get eleven roses please?” I tapped my fingers against the counter, leaning against it.
She raised a thin eyebrow. “Eleven? Don’t you want a dozen?”
I shook my head. “No. Just eleven thank you.”
With a confused expression, the woman went into the back to fix the roses. I looked up and down the aisles to find a fake rose to go with the real ones. I would then out the two together and give them to Veronica.
The woman soon returned, carrying eleven roses in a crystal vase. “That’ll be $32.00.”
I pulled out my wallet and paid with cash. Money meant nothing when it came to Veronica. It wasn’t a problem anyway. After the death of my grandparents, they had left their fortune to mostly me and gave some to my mom.
“Thank you,” I said politely before leaving.
The woman nodded. “Come back anytime.”
I climbed back into my car with a smile on my face. It had been a while since I had shown a happy gesture. I stuck the fake rose inside the bouquet of real roses and laid them in the seat beside me.
Maybe this would be the way I could get Veronica back.
Veronica’s POV
I was tired of being home alone. It seemed like Dad was at work all of the time. I felt so lonely and not to mention hungry. I craved some type of weird food 24/7, one of the perks of being pregnant.
Presently, I sat in the middle of the floor, eating peanut butter out of the jar and watching Adventure Time. It was noon and I found myself getting bored.
Ava and Laney weren’t at home; they were at school, living the rest of their teenage years out to the best of their abilities. If it hadn’t been for the fact that I was pregnant, I would go back to school and finish my senior year with my friends. But things just weren’t working out for me. Maybe I would try to get my GED after having the babies.
A knock sounded at the door, interrupting me from my peanut butter covered thoughts. Sighing, I sat the jar of peanutty goodness on the table and wiped my hands on the carpet.
I opened the door to see a hand holding out roses. And that hand belonged to Harry. I looked up to see him looking down at me, his expression pulled taut.
“Harry-“ I started, but he interrupted me.
“Just hear me out, Veronica. I have a couple of cheesy things I need to say,” he stuck the roses out further, gesturing for me to take them. “I’ll love you until the last rose dies.”
I looked at the flowers, only to find one that didn’t look like the rest. I touched it and realized it was fake. How clever of him.
Harry stepped inside, closing the door behind him. “Veronica, I’m asking you to please come back with me. When I’m near you, I’m a better me. But when you’re away, I’m only half the man I want to be.”
He stepped towards me and I stepped back each time he got a little closer. “I miss you when I’m not with you, baby. And when I’m not with you, all I do is think about you. And when I think about you, I just want to be with you. And when I’m with you, it’s like all of my dreams have come true.”
My heart fluttered. Everything he was saying was so sweet. Harry continued to step closer, closing in on me. My back hit the wall and I couldn’t back up any further. Finally he had me cornered and I could feel my stomach fill with hundreds of butterflies.
“I could conquer the world with just one hand as long as you were holding the other.”
He touched my cheek gently, stroking the apple of my cheek lightly. His touch made my skin tingle with electricity. It was so powerful. Harry leaned forward and I could feel his hot breath against my neck. It sent chills down my spine, creating goose bumps along my arms.
“Just give in, baby. I know you want to come home with me. I can make you feel a whole lot better than anyone here can do for you.”
My breathing was erratic. My heart was pounding. I couldn’t speak.
“Look into my eyes and you’ll find me, but look into my heart and you’ll find you.”
I did look into his eyes. And I saw all of the memories we had shared. I remembered back to the time he had taken me to Hyde Park. I remembered the first time we had an intimate moment. And I remembered all of the times Harry had professed his love for me. “Everyone is someone’s dream and you were mine.”
“Harry,” I breathed. “I missed you.”
He was closer now, our lips inches apart. “I missed you too, baby.”
He pressed his lips to mine. It felt like we were kissing for the first time. Everything we were holding in was packed into this one kiss, smothering us in passion. Our lips moved together. My back was pressed harder into the wall, but I didn’t care. All I wanted was to feel Harry next to me. We pulled away to catch our breaths.
“So, is that a yes?” Harry asked, smirking.
I nodded, reciprocating his gesture. “A definite yes.”
We kissed again and I jumped, wrapping my legs around his torso. My hands were tangled in his mop of curls and his hands gripped my sides.
“How did a guy like me end up with a princess like you?” Harry asked, twirling my hair through his fingers.
I playfully rolled my eyes. “Maybe because you kidnapped me, Harry.”
He chuckled deeply. I felt his chest vibrate. “Oh yeah,” he said in realization. “And I wouldn’t take it back for the world.”
“Me neither.”
I stood on my legs again. They were a bit wobbly, but I didn’t mind. Harry kept me close, beaming down at me. “I love you with every beat of my heart, Veronica.”
“Ditto.”
We stood there for what seemed like an eternity, wrapped in each other’s arms. I felt whole again.
