I got a bad boy I must admit it.

You got my heart, don’t know how you did it.

And I don’t care who sees it babe.

I don’t wanna hide the way I feel when you’re next to me.

Veronica’s POV

The days passed by quickly and before I knew it, Harry and I were back in our old routine again. He made us breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday. And we would lounge around on the couch or the bed and watch TV.

But today was different. Today I was going to pick out our wedding invitations with Anne. And maybe a little more.

“This is just the beginning,” she said enthusiastically as we walked into the little wedding shop in town. “The best part will be picking out your dress.”

Anne immediately went for the book that held samples of invitations and I followed behind her, struggling to keep up. I could already tell this was going to be a rough day. I watched her flip through the book until she came up on one and admired it thoroughly.

“How about this one?” She asked, running her finger down the side of it. I took it from her and examined it.

It was plain white with a light blue trim. The letter was written in black cursive scrawl. For something to be so simple, it sure emitted elegance. The inside read left blanks for two names and it read: Have chosen the first day of their new life together on this day, it left a blank for the date too. I read on: You are invited to share in their joy as they exchange marriage vows. A place for the time and place was also listed.

With a slight smile I said, “I love it.”

“Well,” Anne replied. “That was easy.” Then we ran to the register.

“Can I help you?” The man behind the counter said. He wore a overly dressy tuxedo and his hair was slicked back.

“Yes. We would like this invitation made for her wedding.”

The man took it and examined it with a thin raised eyebrow. “How many will you need, miss?”

Anne looked at me and I shrugged. “My dad is coming for sure, but I don’t know about my friends and there parents.”

“Okay then, let’s see,” she paused, counting in her head. “We’ll need about twenty-seven invitations thank you.”

“Wonderful,” the man said with a smile. “That’ll be 90 pounds.”

Anne pulled out a credit card with a smile and handed it to the man. “Just put it on this.”

And just like that, she bought our wedding invitations. I was speechless.

The rest of the day was spent shopping with Anne. We went to tons of shops and spent a large amount of money that I didn’t want spent on me. I tried to tell her but she just wouldn’t listen.

We bought baby blue hydrangeas at the florist to go at the centerpiece of each table at the reception. We even booked the church and planned the date. Harry and I’s wedding would be six months from now. My stomach churned at the thought. I was at least five months pregnant so that left me four months to have the babies and buy a dress for the wedding. Hopefully I would be able to lose the baby weight by the time I had to actually buy a dress.

When we went to the bakery, I had the time of my life. The smell was absolutely intoxicating and Anne ended up buying us a cupcake each. There, we chose the cake I wanted for the wedding. It was tiered with three levels with light blue piping on the edge. We were trying to make everything match.

Currently, we sat outside a café, having lunch and conversing back and forth. I thought Anne was more excited for this wedding than I was.

“So,” she started, speaking around a fry. “Have you decided who you want to be your Maid of Honor or your bridesmaids?”

I swallowed thickly. To be honest, I hadn’t thought of that at all. Would Ava or Laney agree to do such a thing? “No,” I shook my head.

“Don’t you have any friends back in America?” She asked, looking worried.

I nodded. “I guess I could ask them.”

She clapped her hands together, excited. “Great. What are their names?”

“Ava and Laney.”

“They sound like lovely girls. Which one do you want to be the Maid of Honor?”

I contemplated her question and I finally decided. “Ava.”

“We’ll have to send for them both so we can fit them into dresses.”

I nodded in agreement, sighing. A lot of things went into planning a wedding. I was exhausted from the hectic day from shopping and there was still more to come.

“Harry is having one groomsman I’m sure of,” Anne confessed.

I didn’t ask because I was positive I already knew the answer. Niall would be his groomsman. And he and Harry would also need to be fitted for a suit. I smiled at the thought of Harry wearing a tux. He would look great and as handsome as ever.

Anne paid for the bill and we finally headed home. A wave of relief filled me when I saw the familiar outline of Harry’s house.

“I hope you had fun, Veronica,” she said before I got out of the car. “Because I sure did.”

I laughed. “Me too. It was like-“ I paused, thinking about what I was going to say. “-having a mom again.”

Anne pulled me in for a tight hug and I gladly welcomed it. What I said was true. Anne was like my new mom and I would cherish that forever. Every girl needs a mother and I guessed she would be mine from now on.

“Goodbye, sweetheart,” she said, a tear rolling down her cheek.

I climbed out of the car and waved. “Bye, Anne.”

And with that, she left and I went inside. Harry was asleep on the couch, snoring lightly. His mouth was hanging open a bit, giving him an oh-so-adorable look. I quietly giggled.

Stepping into the kitchen, I sat my bag on the counter and then headed into the living room to give Harry a nice wake up call. But I didn’t notice that something was lying in the floor. Before I knew it, my foot slipped out from under me and I flailed forward, tumbling to the ground.

Onto my stomach.
