"You know time crawls on when you're waiting for the song to start. So dance alone to the beat of your heart."
-The Phoenix, Fall Out Boy
Natsu's POV
The cell doors open and the guard shoos us away, "Its been two days. Time for you to leave."
I sigh in relief and hurriedly run through the Exit of the building, immediately met with fresh green grass. Stretching, I'm suddenly tackled by Gray. We both fall on to the earth, the ice mage on top of me, and breathe in the fresh air. But my joy is short lived.
"Okay. Get off me." I say and shove him away.
"Let's go back to the guild. Hope they didn't miss us too much." He chuckles and starts walking.
"I'm.... not going back to the guild yet...."
"Eh?" Gray asks, turning around, "Why?"
"I just have some business to take care of." I reply, trying to seem as if its nothing.
"Well then I'll come with you!"
"No."
"Why not? I have a right to know."
I groan, "It's personal."
Wait a minute. I shouldn't of said that. Now he's definitely gonna want to know. What else could I have said in a situation such as this that wouldn't of raised suspicion.
"Too bad flame brain. Tell me." He approaches me.
"Akuhei..." I whisper, "I'm going after Akuhei. I've had enough of his torture."
I finally figured it out.
"Natsu... What do you mean?"
"Its nothing. Do not follow me. Go back to the guild. I'll be back soon."
"Whatever..." He reluctantly spins around and walks towards Fairy Tail.
I take the opposite path and think about the nightmare I recently had. Gray can never know about these. No one can. I know who that voice in my dreams is now. Akuhei. This one was different than the others. It was like being locked in a cage. A dark and silent cell. I could only watch them be killed on the sideline. Gray was screaming my name. For me to help him. And I tried. But I could never get to him. Many people died that way. Calling for me and all I could do was stand there, helpless. When I finally saw the face of the killer my heart stopped for a moment.
It was me.
But not me.
There was an evil look in my eye and my mouth had been open with a maniac type of laughter.
That wasn't me.
The real me at least.
When I find him, I'm ending it. He may not have a scent but if he's talking, I can track him by his voice. Looking behind me, I make sure Gray isn't following me.
Burying my face into my scarf, I continue walking and listen intently for the voice of my enemy.
Gray's POV
I sigh softly.
Hopefully Natsu doesn't catch my scent on the wind. I go from tree to tree, being extra careful that he doesn't see me. I'd be dead if he did. The guild will likely be worried that we haven't come back yet. I peek out at him. The Salamander strays off the path and into the woods.
