Well I'm pretty much screwed. I fumbled through my paper-work on my organized chocolate colored desk.
"Are you serious?" I mumbled under my breath. I darted my eyes back and forth from name-to-name as I flipped through the papers quickly. Obviously, it wasn't there. I rolled my desk chair to the cabinet at the entrance of my office room and opened the 2 doors while furrowing my eyebrows together in concentration. Where could it be? I continued to look through the papers in every drawer until I heard my office door creak open.
"Having any trouble?" My co-worker, Lynie, opened the door and smiled at me. Lynie is an Industrial architect, so she's one branch above mine. I'm a Public Architect, but lately, I haven't been notified to start any of my dream-projects. My ideas of public buildings were unique, but nobody gave me a chance, probably because I was the one of the only blond-haired girl that worked at this damn place. Nobody took me seriously, except for- well... not even Lynie.
I closed the cabinet doors and sat up straight to fix my Capris and my "Vineyard Vines" T-shirt. Trying to hide my obvious stress, I rolled my chair back to my desk and calmly sat down. "I'm fine, Lynie. I'm just having a rough morning." I smiled reassuringly. Lynie frowned.
"Alrighty then, Ms.Chase, when your ready, I'll need you to stop by at my office to hand me the blue-prints for the Tenning Highway. I am quite excited to see your ideas for this major project." She smiled at me in a strict- kind of scary way. I smiled back at her until she left the room. I let out a sigh of relief and buried my face into my palms. How could I have lost something so important?
I logged on to my Architecture-based Mac book to waste some time and clicked my email Inbox. I scanned the 100 emails I had gotten and rolled my eyes at the crazy amount of spam. Donations, babysitting, and- Dating Sights? I shifted my mouse to the email about Dating Sights and out of curiosity, I clicked it.
It immediately took me to the web sight. I already knew this was one of the most popular dating sights in all of Brooklyn based on the logo, which I'd seen so many times out in public. A miniature slide show was displayed on the Home page and each picture showed people talking, some laughing, and some posing like they were in a photo shoot. I clicked the tab that said "Reviews" and I scrolled down to the bottom of the page. The comments were so enthusiastic, one of them said, "OMG! I met my bae on here! He is so sweet!" I frowned and rolled my eyes. Weirdos. I couldn't help but smile at that strange comment.
I moved my mouse to the sign-up button on the top right corner and I clicked it. I typed in my email and my information and waited for it to load. I leaned in closer to the Mac book. I jumped to the sound of somebody opening the door. I quickly tried to X out of the screen but out of my luck, it froze. I looked up, hoping that the person wouldn't stand next to me and see what I was doing.
Instead of Lynie, a young man I've never seen before opened the door and walked in, his green eyes glued to a tablet.
"Um, excuse me? Do you need something?" I said.
He looked up and shaked his head. "Oh. I'm sorry. I walked into the wrong office. " He turned around to leave but I stopped him before he could reach the door.
"My names Annabeth Chase." I said. He took a minute to turn around and hold his hand out.
"I'm Percy Jackson."
I held my hand out and shook his. "Why haven't I ever seen you before?"
He scratched the back of his neck. "I'm new here. I just got the job to be the water-current assistant."
I nodded my head in approval. Being the water-current assistant was a very high-paying job, mostly because it was incredibly hard and only the smartest people could get the job. Well, unless you had a specialty to water. "That's so cool! I'm sure you'll fit in, Percy." I looked back down, praying he would leave me to die in my own Dating Sight cocoon infested with creepy spiders. Well- maybe minus the spiders.
Percy shifted in his feet for an awkward moment before blurting something out.
"What do Sea Monsters eat for breakfast?" I looked up and blinked at the absurd question. He smiled awkwardly and he knew he snapped. Badly. I laughed for a second before answering.
"I don't know, why?" I looked up at him and chuckled at his uncomfortable poster.
"Uh......" He paused and uneasily answered the question. "Fish and ships?" He blushed and ran his fingers through his slightly attractive dark hair. I stopped for a moment before busting out in laughter. I couldn't control my hysterical giggles as he patted my back in a friendly way. I blushed in embarrassment. I was acting like a child in a 25 year-old body, but I wasn't so uncomfortable. I Looked up at him standing by my side and he looked over at my Mac Book Air. This time, it was his turn to laugh.
