Chapter 6 Castle in Flames

"What the?" I question out loud, I am on the ground in front of my castle. I reach into my pocket and a note is there, when? Why? How?

I must've fallen asleep near their base and they carried me back here, now I owe them. Great. There's no time to worry about that though I have to prepare for Rythian, who I know will come after me soon. I never should've set up that nuke, I was an idiot.

"Forcefield on."

A blue light surrounds my castle, so I should be fine unless he blasts through it. But it should hold long enough for me to grab anything important then bolt.

I hear two people laughing, it sounds like Rythia and I. Following the laughter down halls, stairs and into a room. Nothing is in this room though, and the laughter is coming from behind a wall.

I hit the wall and it moves to the side, showing a screen that has a video of Rythia and I as kids. A tear comes to my eye when I see Zoey and Lewis and Simon playing with us. We were all such great friends then our parents died and told me to protect Rythia. Their last words were to have our friends forget about my sister but they let Zoey keep them, with a code of silence.

A familiar voice stuns me, I spin on my heel and my lab coat flies up slightly. My mouth drops when I see a hologram of my dad.

"Duncan, if you are seeing this then you moved Rythia out of the castle we gave you. Whatever happens she cannot meet Rythian, if he is still alive. There is something we never told you about your sister. But before I tell you, if this castle is being attacked do NOT let me continue."

An explosion on the outside makes the decision that my holo-dad cannot continue. Quickly I pull out the device that is projecting holo-dad and drop it in my inside lab coat pocket. Why can Rythia not meet Rythian? Other than the fact that he is insane!

"Okay Rythian bring it on," I mutter to myself as another explosion echoes around the castle. My force field falters slightly, letting one of his magic catalyst disk projectiles to hit one of my towers.

"Come out here and fight me like a man Duncan!" He screams.

Not today, no point to it. I need to be there for Rythia and I don't plan on dying. Honor less and alive is better than an honorable death. Quickly I pack my bags and race around shutting everything off, deleting all data on Rythia that is in the system. As I look out a window my forcefield fails and falls, crap!

"I'm coming in Duncan!"

Crap crap crap! Rythian is destroying every tower of my castle and he is going to destroy the one I'm in in a second. Except he doesn't, he flies through the window with a creepy smile on his face.

"Look who I found, the coward hiding behind a forcefield and a castle. Your science can't save you now Duncan!"

"Rythian stop! If you stop now we won't have to kill you!"

He scoffs, "And planting a nuke under my castle would make me believe that! Killing the woman I love would make me believe that!"

"Rythian Zoey was never meant to be killed! The nuke was only to keep you from attacking us! We are sorry that she died but she wouldn't want to die in her revenge!"

His eyes narrow, "YOU DONT KNOW WHAT SHE WOULD WANT!"

He charges at me with blinding speed, he manages to hit me in the face, chest, and stomach before I can move out of the way. Okay Rythian is freakishly strong while angry, lets get away! I run out of the room and set up the temporary forcefield that encases the room. Okay he is trapped for a bit, or for one second.

"GET BACK HERE YOU COWARD!"

He chases me into Rythia's room, where it is a skeleton of it's usual magicy-science stuff.

"Studying magic Duncan? You only use it to cheat work! Who is Rythia?"

Crap! I forgot she painted Rythia's Room on her wall. Think think think Duncan! Make her an ex girlfriend! No he will hunt her down to use her anger against me, cousin! Cousin who died in this room with magic. Now fake emotion, it has to be an Oscar worthy performance!

"She was a cousin that died in this very room Rythian! She died because she was experimenting with magic. Magic is a danger to everyone, science is safer!"

"She was pitiful then and now you shall die in here too, also with magic."

He teleports away and a magic bomb appears in his place, shit! I try to open the door and I can't, there are no windows in Rythia's room because her's is below the ground. Why did I run here again? Wait what's that? In the corner of her room is a teleporter that is offline. Maybe she has the other teleporter, lets hope she has it on.

"Come on hook up to the other one you stupid machine!"

Right as the nuke explodes it connects and I am flung into the wall, teleporting into a slightly familiar room as everything goes black.

Rythia is dancing with a man I cannot see, who us he? All I can see is his flaming red hair, wait Zoey has flaming red hair. Except this isn't Zoey, this man's hair is short. Also Zoey is dead, this man is obviously not.

"Rythia please come back to us."

Rythia pulls away from the man but he won't let her leave. I want to punch this guy for not letting her leave but I can't move at all.

"I don't know you! Or who you are!"

"You don't remember me? It's Zeo! Your best friend."

My sister shakes her head and tries to get of Zeo's grasp again and this time she succeeds. Her head turns and she notices me, her dress flows behind her as she runs into me arms.

"Duncan I thought you were dead!"

"I'm not dead Rythia, I would never leave you alone. Especially without saying goodbye."

Zeo walks towards us, and angry look on his face.

"Who are you and how are you in her dream?"

"I'm Rythia's brother, and I don't know. Now leave her alone!"

Zeo fades and soon so does Rythia, now I am all alone. Alone with the darkness of wherever I am. After a long time, I think, everything glows and my eyes open.

"Duncan!" Rythia shouts as she smiles.

"Hey sis, how long have I been out?"

"A week, what happened Duncan?"

"Rythian happened, he attacked and destroyed the castle. He tried to kill me with a nuke but the teleporter in your room saved me. Why are you here and not at Hannah's though?"

She runs her fingers through her hair and groans, "Hannah was a biatch and is cheating on Lewis with Nilesy. So I helped carry Lewis back with Simon after he fainted."

"Oh, well at least your safe." I'm acting calm on the outside but I am actually really pissed at Hannah. She lied to everyone and I imagine that Lewis is depressed and heart broken but she played me and him! I still liked her, now I'm disgusted that I ever liked her.

"Duncan what now? We have no home to go back to, that's all that was left of Mom and Dad."

"Not everything Ryth." I hold up the device that has holo-dad's message on it.

"What is that?"

"A device that Dad left a message on, I never finished it though. Rythian attacked before I could."

"Lets finish the message then."

"We will later Ryth, right now I don't want to know what he says."

She pouts, "Fine Duncan, I'll see you later. Simon needs my help with something. Get some rest, you need it bro."

She hugs me gently then leaves the room I'm in, lets follow her advice and get some sleep. I fall asleep again, this time no dreams.
