Ellie's POV
I was about to tell my parents that I would be attending Xander's moms funeral, but I realized had no idea what to say. Of course, my mom would understand, but I had no idea whether or not my dad was aware of vampires existing. You can't exactly go up and say, "Hey mom and dad, I am going to my vampire boyfriends 700 something year old mothers funeral!"
I don't even know what to do if they wanted to come for support. Xander mentioned that there would be a lot of vampires there, so bringing my parents was out of the question! I guess I'll just have to wing it.
I walked into the living room where my mom and dad were sitting together on the couch watching TV.
"Hey mom, dad," I started off casually, "Listen Xander's mom recently passed away. . ." I paused watching them intently. My mother kind of stared at me extremely confused. I couldn't blame her. Hearing that a vampire died was something that literally made no sense.
"They invited me to her private funeral, and I was wondering can I please go? It would mean so much to Xander!" They exchanged glances then looked at me sadly.
"Of course you can go. Does this mean that you two are back together though?" My mom asked with a grin spreading on her face.
"Yes!" I screamed with a large smile on my face.
"That will be five bucks!" My mom said holding out her hand to my father, in which he placed a five dollar bill. I looked at them confused. Had they seriously bet on me?
"Well your mother and I had a bet that you and Xander would get back together within the week, but I bet against it and lost." My mother chuckled and my dad playfully glared.
"True love always finds a way," My mother said holding my hands in looking in my eyes.
"Ew mom, don't get all mushy," I protested her mushiness.
"Fine, Fine. If you don't mind me asking though, what happened to his mother?" My mom asked staring me down.
"Well his mom was diagnosed with cancer 2 years ago and she just recently passed away."
I made sure to wink at mom so she knew that something else happened. She nodded her head approvingly and winked back.
Though that wasn't the truth, I couldn't help but feel awful. That would have been a better death than being beaten and attacked.
"Make sure to give our condolences." My mom said leaning on my fathers shoulder, as I left the room.
I texted Xander saying it was a success. Thank goodness they didn't ask too many questions. Everything was moving smoothly.
A day later I received a card in the mail stating the day of her funeral. It was going to be held at Xander's house on March 29th at 11:30.
Xander's POV
The invitations had been sent out. Ellie's parents knew nothing more than what was told and Ellie was coming. Everything was in place for the day, but truthfully I rather not have this day at all. I wish she was still here.
My dad had hired someone to come help arrange the back yard. There were several rows of benches, and flowers had been grown throughout the hole garden. My mother loved flowers, especially daffodils and they would be placed in the center.
Her coffin sat upon a pedestal, covered in hundreds of flowers. There was a podium in which someone would walk up and speak. I had a feeling there would be a lot of speeches. I would make one myself, but I don't think I could get through the beginning without choking up.
