VALERIE POV
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, VAL!" I heard. I sat up in my bed and everyone was there. My whole family. "It's my birthday! I'm sixteen now!" I exclaimed.

My mother shooed everyone but my two cousins, Sarah and Ashley, so we could get ready for my sweet sixteen ball. The theme was blue so my mother had bought a beautiful blue ball gown.

They did my makeup, my hair, my nails, and put a tiara on my head. I felt like a princess. When I looked at my reflection in the mirror I see they had curled my brunette hair and put some of it back. There was a gleaming tiara on my head, and my makeup was perfect. I felt beautiful. As I looked at myself, I held on to the snowflake necklace my mother gave me. For a second, I thought it glowed. I blinked and it was gone.

I looked back at my mother and cousins, and they squealed in delight

I looked back at my mother and cousins, and they squealed in delight. They knew they had done a good job.

"Come, Valerie. Let's go downstairs and to the ball," my mother said. The ball was downstairs. We opened the door of my room, and Aidan was there waiting for me.

"Hello, princess. Happy birthday," he greeted me. "Hey Aidan" I replied. He was like my best friend. My dad wouldn't even let me hang out with boys very often.

Since I wasn't allowed to date (I was daddy's little princess and he wouldn't let me), I always attended everything with my brother, Aidan at my side.

He held out his arm for me and I took it and we walked downstairs together. Heads turned to see us. I blushed because all eyes were on us as we went down the stairs.

We got to the dance floor and everyone watched to see me dance my first dance.
I slowly spun and twirled with Aidan. "You look beautiful, princess," Aidan said in a low voice. I blush and replied, "Thank you, you look handsome." "I do, don't I," he said with a posh voice and smiled. "I change my mind, you look rotten" I said, holding back a giggle. He replied "I'm sorry but do you need glasses?" I smiled and shook my head at him. The song soon ended and everyone clapped. Next was the dance for everyone to switch partners and move around the room.

Aidan walked away and I was partners with my father. "Val you look like you've grown a foot since I last saw you!" He said. I laughed "Daddy, you saw me just yesterday and I haven't grown an inch!" He smiled "I suppose, but you're my princess and you're just growing up so fast." I was about to reply until the partners were switched.

I came face to face with a boy around my age. He smirked at me and I blushed and smiled back. "Hello, Valerie," he said. "How do you know my name?" I asked him. "Well you are the whole reason why I'm here: Happy birthday by the way," he said while smirking even more. I blushed "Oh, right, well since you know my name, what's yours?" "I'll tell you if you kiss me," he said. I blushed. "I- um-well... " I looked down "I haven't had my first kiss yet," I added. He raised his eyebrows at me and lifted my chin. He looked into my eyes and said "I guess I can settle for your number instead, then." I smiled and recited my number from memory.

The partners switched just as he whispered in my ear "Hunter, Hunter King."

It'd be great if you voted, commented, and shared. You can also message me if you have questions or concerns or if you want to be my cool internet buddy. I'm such a loner haha. I'll update soon.
