Yes that is me. Madison Kingston, a 17 year old senior of Black Holly Federal Service Academics (BHFSA). Almost everyone in my family is working for the government. Almost everyone because Austin is only 3 years old. Eventually though he will be going to BHFSA for the same training Luke, Ellie, and I got.

Black Holly Federal service Academic School is a training ground where kids 13-18 go to learn about the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and the Coast Guard. But now-a-days we only focus on the Army and the Air Force. Why? Well that's a story I will get into later.

You may be wondering "how are you a senior if you are 17?" The answer is that I skipped a year. I am one of the top soldiers in my troop.

The way that works is the top 5 soldiers in your troop (class) get to move farther ahead than the others when given the opportunity to prove yourself. To prove yourself you are given a task to complete within a certain amount of time. You are not told what your task is until the day of. So basically it is a "final exam". But the tasks are never the same. So no one could get hints from the higher ranks.

My task was to travel from Lexington to Charlottesville, Virginia in 7 days on foot. I had to bring back evidence of my journey to prove that I got there without getting bit by "them". As you can see I am in one piece and still breathing.

I bet you are also wondering who "they" are right? Well, you must have realized by now that kids from 13-18 aren't going to the types of schools from the past, where they learn to use their imagination and crap like that. Now most kids are learning to read, write, and fight. Others, who aren't really strong, will also learn math and history to help count and keep track of our crops and keep records of what happens in our lives. This is because we are surrounded by death. Literally, soulless corpses are crawling around Lexington. The government had put up walls around us 10 years ago when this all started.

I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was watching cartoons on a Saturday morning with my siblings like we always did. Then the TV switched to the news telling people to lock their doors and shut their windows because the undead was coming. I remember my mother and father pushing us upstairs into their room and told us to lock it and not to come out. 10minutes later we'd heard gun shots coming from downstairs. Groaning from outside the house had my older brother looking out the window cautiously. Ellie was trying to calm me down because I had been so scared I was hyperventilating.

That night on the radio my parents had, the governor of Virginia, John Brently ordered everyone from 19-65 to report to their town hall to register for the new state army. Then he said that kids from 13-18 will be training at Black Holly high school and other district high schools in Virginia. The next morning my parents left me with our next door neighbor miss Glah a 68 year old woman who was also watching other kids my age at the time. My mom and dad went to drop off my 18 year old brother and my 14 year old sister at Black Holly high school.
