- Aziel -

I had walked these school corridors for almost three years. And in those years I had perfected the art of being invisible to my peers. I refused to let today be any different. Maybe I should explain.

My name is Aziel and I am a junior at Dorcastle High in North Dakota. It's a tiny town with roughly two hundred and thirty four residents (give or take a couple). You either knew everyone or no one. So it surprise me when I had somehow managed to go unknown by the other the kids in this town for nearly seventeen years. But I wasn't complaining. I much rather the silence of the deserted library than that of the rowdy cafeteria.

The people were like savages; desperate for their next meal. There was pushing and shoving in the lines, there had even been some injuries that lead to a trip to the nurse. Meanwhile, the library was quite and peaceful. God knows there was no feral behaviour there.

I pushed this random thought out of my head, continuing on my way to lesson. I was shoved a few times but no-one sent so much as a glance my way; just the way I liked it. I strolled through the threshold, a content smile on my face.

I made my way to the second row with no trouble. I sometimes wondered how it was possible for the corridors to get so crowded considering how few people lived here. I then, of course would remember that most of our town's population was teens. Most people skipped town as soon as they started college. Never returning. Very few stayed. Most bored of the small town life.

I always thought I would be one of the ones that left for college never looking back. Now, I wasn't so sure I had never stepped foot out of this town. I had never been to the city. I wasn't so sure I could leave my mother even if it was just while was in college.

Dismissing the thought for a later date, I got out my equipment for my lesson laying it out neatly on my desk. When everything was in its position I checked my watch. Three minutes. Our professor was three minutes late so far. But judging by the noise level in the classroom my fellow classmates didn't care.

Sighing I propped my head on my arm waiting for the lesson to begin.

Looking down at my watch again I noticed nearly twelve minutes had gone by. Fifteen minutes late. Our professor was always on time what was going on.

Suddenly the door was flung open and in rushed a small women with crazy curly red hair. Face flushed she stood at the front of the classroom.

"Good morning." she shouted clapping her hands to get the class' attention. "Now, my name is Miss Wiley and I will be your substitute today as your teacher couldn't make it." she wrote her name on the challenge board before turning to us "Open your textbooks up and carry on with the work you have been doing."

The sound of books being flicked through filled the air. I was ahead of the rest my class so quickly turned to the page I had bookmarked and began taking notes.

With only forty five minutes of lesson left I tried to get down as much as I could. Sadly, the end of lesson came quicker than I had hoped. The sound of the school bell rang loud and clear through our school. Students bustled about all eager to leave chatting obnoxiously loud as they did.

I gathered my stuff not eager to join the mob of students. Soon the stream of students had thinned and I was on my way to next period. I loved lessons but I hated the crowds of students shoving me this way and that way. I was always glad for the peacefulness of the empty library at lunch.

Just one more hour to go.

{Small time skip}

A sigh of relief left my lips as I walked through the empty corridors to the library. Everyone had already ran off to the cafeteria. I had stayed back helping my teacher clear up the mess the students had left.

I pushed open the heavy metal door of the deserted library. No one ever came here. Literally. The library was always deserted so the school didn't bother employing a librarian. So when ever a student did come in because I knew the library better than the back of my hand I acted as librarian. But it happened very rarely.

I settled down at one of the large circular tables in the middle of the library for studying. I pulled out a large hard back book plopping it onto the table. I opened it onto the bookmarked page and delved into the world of fiction.

This was how I like it, alone with my books and thoughts. I wouldn't change it for anything in the world.

A/N Bit of an abrupt ending but I couldn't think of anything so unless Angel has anything I think that's it. Bye guys don't forget to comment your thoughts it really helps and makes us smile :)
