Enemies or Lovers?

The first few hours of school

From the minute I entered the gates I knew this was going to be a lot tougher than my last school. We've moved so many times I've lost count of how many schools I've been to but this is definitely the biggest and looks the scariest.

Taking a deep breath I swung open the large blue doors and tried to act more confident than I felt. It seemed pretty empty to begin with but the place began to be crowded with students all walking in different directions as the bell rang indicating lessons were about to begin.

I took a glance at the timetable I'd been sent from the the headteacher the week before and realised my first lesson was maths. Great. I've just started a new school with new people, new everything and my first lesson is something I'm terrible at. What a way to make a good impression.

I realised that I was now the only person left in the corridors and I had no idea where I was going so I was going to be late as usual. After searching the entire school I finally found the classroom I was supposed to arrive at 15 minutes earlier. The teacher (a middle aged woman with short brown hair and green eyes) stared at me with confusion then realised who I was. "Ah, you must be Mia. Take a seat next to Lauren dear. I quickly figured out who Lauren was as she was the only one with an empty seat next to her. She had long blonde hair down to her waist and I guessed she didn't exactly follow the rules based on her pink acrylic nails and a face full of makeup. She looked nice enough and I was right. A friend was something I really needed right now.

My next lesson was English which is my favourite so I was really pleased about that. Unfortunately Lauren wasn't in this class with me but I think we're in lots of others together so that's okay. It wasn't exactly how I had hoped. It seemed to drag on forever and everyone in the class seemed to be staring at me the whole time. Maybe it was the jeans, was my makeup smudged? I didn't know but it certainly made me feel uncomfortable.

Finally break came and Lauren waited outside my class to meet me. She told me not to worry about the staring they do it every new kid apparently. This made me feel a lot better, and she wanted to spend time with me after school too. I knew that this friendship was going to be good.
