IVA'S POV
I sighed to myself and threw my book on the floor in utter annoyance.
"I can't do this!" I yell, standing up from my desk and collapsing on my bed.I'd been notified of an exam that was in less than 3 days and I couldn't learn the key facts for maths. It was like my brain was focused on something completely pathetic.
Then again I couldn't get what happened two days ago out of my head like my mind had permanently placed an image gallery of what happened and it was forever on replay!I hear a knock at my door and I lift my head up slightly to see Brody standing in the door frame, his black hood over his head and his right hand snuggled into his pocket.
"I thought you could use a little distracting," he says closing the door behind him."My head can do that on its own!" I grumble and I lean myself up so I'm sat on my bed. Brody walks over and sits closely next to me.
"I can't get what happened out of my head, it's like it's been scolded into my mind," I say, Brody sighs and gets up quickly to his feet.
"Come on, I'm taking you out," he says smirking. He holds out his hand waiting for me to respond.
"Am I gonna regret this?" I ask folding my arms.
"Always baby girl" he replies still with the same smirk on his face.
I grab his hand and he pulls me out of my house and into his world which he calls 'fun'.

"Are we there yet?" I mutter as Brody turns the corner of the road in his car.
We'd been in the car for a while now and the thunder hadn't stopped. It was pitch black and all that could be seen were the headlights from the outside of the car and each other."Soon" replies Brody, trying to focus on the road.
I sigh and look out of the window only to see pure darkness."This is so stupid! I could have learnt facts by now" I argue.
"No, you would have overworked yourself and nothing would have gone into your head. Besides, you love hanging out with me" he says smirking.
"Ha ha fuck you too" I mutter sarcastically and I continue to look out the window in annoyance.
Eventually, we arrive at a shelter which was lit up by a few street lamps. There were wooden fencing surrounding the perimeter and greenery in places for more of a homey feel.
We both hop out of the car and I follow Brody into the shelter. We walk into a small wooden shack which had a computer desk, computer and filing reports on. A red carpet and curtains decorated the floor and walls.
Brody walks over the desk and presses a small bell to let whoever is here know that people are at the desk.
A middle-aged woman walks out of a room in the back and her mouth turn into a smile when seeing Brody.
"Brody!" She cries."Hello Anne" Brody greets her with a hug.
Brody turns to me after releasing Anne from their hug."Iva, this is Anne, she's like my second Mother and she's good friends with my parents. She owns this animal shelter and I uh... work here so I wanted to show you around" explains Brody.
Brody turns back around to Anne.
"Anne, this is Iva, the girl I've told you about before," says Brody.
Anne nods and walks over to me and pulls me into a tight squeeze."Nice to meet you Iva," she says, while her head is rested on my neck. She squeezes me tightly waiting for my response.
"You too" We both pull away and Brody walks me to the door. He begins showing me around the shelter and we start with the cat house.
