I walked out the front doors, careful not to trip any possible alarms. Then I motioned for Eli to do exactly what I had just done.
When we made it outside, I looked around.
"Alright," I whispered, pulling Eli close to me. "There are 3 security cameras that would be able to see us if we walks out there right now. I need you to follow me and do exactly what I do, got it?"
He nodded and I smiled.
"Good boy."
I peaked my head around the corner and started to move along the wall slowly. I watched the security camera as I went, stopping when it was right above my head.
I looked over to Eli, who was basically attached to my hip.
"What now?" He asked.
"Now, you're going to give me a boost."
He weaved his hands into a make-shift step, and I used it to climb onto him.
I lightly placed my right foot on his shoulder. "Okay, this is probably going to hurt a little." I quickly lifted my left foot onto his other shoulder and stood up.
Eli grabbed my legs quickly and I held onto the wall that was now in front of me. Eli leaned on said wall so that he didn't fall over from my weight.
I'm not saying I'm heavy, but not many people can just casually have another person standing on their shoulders.
"That's alright," he laughed. "I like a little pain."
"Kinky little bastard, aren't ya?" I joked.
I pulled my knife out of my sleeve, since I put them back after the fight, and began my work. I swiftly cut the black wire that I assumed made the footage save onto a computer somewhere.
"Ok, now put me down."
Eli squatted down a little, and I jumped off of him before moving on. He followed right behind me.
I grabbed a few rocks as we walked. "What're those for?" Eli asked.
"Just watch." I stopped with the second security camera in my line of view. I lined up my shot, then launched the rock at my target.
Bullseye.
The lens shattered, leaving the rock sitting where the glass used to be.
I looked back at Eli, who was watching me with wide eyes, and smiled. "Holy shit. Nice shot!"
I shrugged. "Thanks. I try."
I repeated this when we came across the third and final security camera, then turned back to Eli.
"Alright, next step. We're going to climb the fence."
Eli glanced over to the black, chain-link barrier that separated us from the outside world. "And how do you propose we do- Ryder?"
I had already made my way over to the fence and started climbing. I looked at him. "Are you coming, or did we do all of that 'training' for nothing?" I winked and brought one hand off the fence to make air-quotes around the word "training".
Eli raised an eyebrow and had a cocky smile on his face. "What training? I think you need to refresh my memory."
I laughed. "In your dreams, lover boy!" I continued to climb, and I saw Eli out of the corner of my eye. He grabbed the fence and started to copy my movements.
"Damn right! Those are going to be some of my best dreams yet!"
I laughed some more. I couldn't remember the last time I had smiled so much.
What the hell was this boy doing to me?
When I reached the top of the fence, I rested for just a second before jumping off and executing a front roll. I stood back up, scratch free.
I looked back up at Eli, who was staring at me. "You're turn, asshat."
He smiled. "Still with the name calling? Really?"
I shrugged.
Eventually, Eli joined me on the other side of the fence. "It's about time," I mumbled.
"What was that?" He teased.
"I said, you should stop eavesdropping on people's thoughts."
He laughed and I rolled my eyes.
"Come on, Eli. Let's go face the music."
