I saw Mr.Cornell get up from a distance. Out of my natural senses, I got up and ran outside the classroom.
"Carmen....." It was Mr.C's voice. I looked for Mr.Glitter, but he was no where to be found. I listened for any noises, and then I heard his low voice speaking over his classroom phone. He was calling the office. My eyes caught Mr.Cornell stepping outside. With all energy, I flew like a bullet towards the opposite direction. I sprinted past the wall of lockers and into the open area. I paused to catch my breaths.
"There you are," Mr.Cornell said intimidatingly. I turned my head to look back at him. In his hands were a sharp knife. No, not today! I still have things to do and people to see!
"Maybe another time," I said, launching myself in the direction of the front desk. "Help!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. He lunged his knife at me, but to my luck he missed by a few feet. I attempted to take the knife but he flew himself on top of me. With an angry fist, I punched him in the stomach and grabbed the shiny knife. It suddenly came to my attention that the knife was useless. Killing him would be an absolute crime and it would not look very pretty on my record. I called for help the second time. Why was nobody coming to my rescue? I needed the most help I could receive, yet no one answered my desperate call. He ran to my location, and out of unblemished instinct I ran to the exit of the building and out into the great outdoors. The Sun was still blooming over the sky causing an orangey horizon. My environment seemed dead, and so would I if I didn't keep moving. I sprinted past the tiny neighborhood and past the small shops. My feet were like wheels on a motorcycle, full speed too. I was zooming through the sidewalks to the direction of my home, which was a flew blocks down the street (which is also no where near a walking distance from Beachside Middle). I felt my head lodge into someone else's and the next thing I knew, I was knocked down to the cold concrete.
"Ouch!" a female voice squealed. I could recognize her smooth voice anywhere. It was Elizabeth!
"Lizzy! What're you doing here?!" I asked attentively.
"Carmen?" She looked at me, astonished. "The question is, what are you doing here?" Reminded of my strange and violent situation, I jolted up from the ground.
"It's not sa-" I stopped my self from speaking at that moment. I didn't want to put her in danger and drag her into this mess. "I mean, what are you doing here alone? The Muppet Man is still on the loose," I persuaded, while at the same time doing my best to not give out The Muppet Man's true identity.
"I'm just taking a walk. And I'm not alone, obviously you're here with me." Elizabeth's face contorted. "Why were you running?"
"Oh you know, just out to get some exercise." I knew I had to say something else, or else she wouldn't believe me. "My parents forced me to."
She relaxed into her usual self.
"Ohhh, I get it. At least you're doing something healthy," she let out her adorable laugh. "Unlike me." She walked me back home, It was a very nice evening. Soon the Sun kissed the horizon farewell and the Moon shone in the sky, transforming my yellow tinted surroundings into a blue neighborhood."What?!" my Mom screamed. "You walked home by yourself?!"
"With Elizabeth," I corrected.
"Why didn't you take the bus?!" Her face was all over mine. I took a step back. I could not tell her the truth. She would not even try to believe me. Then she'll probably think I was on some sort of drugs. I needed to make up some sort of excuse.
"Because, It was too late for me to ride the bus. I had to use the restroom, and by the time I got out, everyone was gone. I had to walk home because they wouldn't keep me in school. To my luck, I found Elizabeth outside and we walked here together," I half lied. She calmed down.
"Ahhhh, okay. Next time be careful on what you do," she said. Never in my life have I been so relieved. I nodded and headed upstairs to my room. I sat on my bed and began to reflect upon my day. It was a very long Tuesday. I gave myself a small recap on what happened so far this week and last week. Last Friday, I hallucinated having a sleepover with The Potato Nuggets due to my mysterious consumption of drugs. Monday, a drugging happened in Beachside's Lunches. Was this a coincidence or is there a relationship between the two? I know now Mr.Cornell was The Muppet Man, but was he also Beachside's drug lord? On Tuesday, which was today, I discovered the truth. But it still makes no sense. The process was brain twisting, yet I still don't find any reasonable correlation. I knew going to school tomorrow would be a challenge. I can not risk to eat any sort of food sourcing from the school, I would have to bring in my own. I will bring a purse tomorrow, and in that purse would carry some sort of device for defense. I would have to be careful or else the school will charge me for disrupting the learning environment and "encouraging" violence as well. I prepared my stuff for tomorrow. I needed to get my mind off this. I got on my iPod and got onto my social media. Scrolling through my timeline, a post grabbed my attention. Was that Mr.Glitter? Yes, it was. A picture of him from last years yearbook was shown. I read the caption below.
"Eighth grade Math Teacher at Beachside Middle School convicted of drug usage and Murder."
