The final wave/ Miggie

Part 2

Maddie's POV

I wake up to my alarm early like always. They have the best waves in the morning duh. I start getting ready and call Scarlet to see if she's up. She is and we decide to meet at the beach. I eat a small breakfast and then go down to the beach. I see Scarlet with her board and we're both in wet suits because the water's always cold in the morning. "You excited for that competition?" Scarlet asks when jog down to where she is. "Yeah I guess. I'm a little nervous which is weird." I say. "It's normal to be nervous. It just means you care." Scarlet says. I nod and ask "Wanna hit the waves?" She smiles and nods and we run out into the water. I paddle out and sit on my board waiting for a good wave. I see a boy a little bit farther down the beach who just caught a good wave. I've seen him surf before but don't know who he is. "Hey Scarlett!" I yell because she probably can't hear me over the waves breaking. "Yeah?!" She asks. "Who's that boy?!" I ask. She paddles a little closer to me. "That's Diggie Smalls." She says. I watch as he surfs all the way to shore. He's only wearing his swim shorts and I can see his 6 pack from here. "He's good." I say. "Yeah. He's really cute." She says. I nod and look behind me. "I think so good ones are coming up." I say. She nods and paddles a little farther away from me. I see a good wave and I lay on my stomach and paddle along with it. As soon as it starts to build height I jump up on my board and ride it all the way in. I go back out and we ride waves until lunch time. The closer we get to the competition, which is tomorrow, the more nervous I get. Scarlett and I go in for lunch and then go back out. I see Diggie and another boy sitting on the sand on towels. Diggie laughs at the other boy. Gosh his laugh is cute. "You should talk to him." Liv tells me. "Please. I'll just embarrass myself plus I don't need any distractions for the competition tomorrow." I say. Liv rolls her eyes. "I'll go talk to him." She says. "No. Don't." say. She smiles. "Fine. I'll talk to him after the competition." I say. She rolls her eyes. I sit down a little away from them beside Scarlet and Liv. After a little while of talking we go back out into the water and surf a little bit more. The more I surf the more confident I get and the more ready I think I am for the competition tomorrow.
