"Please, I have nowhere else" I begged. He looked at me disaprovingly. I twirled my hair slightly, his eyes immediately lit up and he let me in.
"I don't understand, why would your parents just kick you out?" He looked at me questioningly.
Embarassed, I looked down.
"It's a private matter James." I replied.
"You know you can tell me anything." His hand brushed my arm as we walked through his tiny flat. Uncomfortably I looked up at him. "I'd prefer not to say. I'm afraid you'll look at me differently."
He nodded and carried my suitcase to the lounge. There was a small television, a stained coffee table and a blue sofa with one yellow cushion. The blinds matched the colour of the sofa and made the room feel even smaller.
I sat down silently.
"Coke?" He asked. I nodded. Some sugary chemicals would surely lift my spirits. He came back through and sat down on the tiny sofa. Handing me a large glass of pop, he said "Octavia, you know I can't help if you dont tell me the problem." I sighed and turned to him.
"You really want to know? I've been kicked out of med school. My parents spent their life savings on getting me in there so I could have a future. And I wasted it." My head fell into my hands, and I sobbed.
