Therapy Session
...
Now, Will sits in the chair across from Hannibal, mid-session. "Do you have any regrets?"
Hannibal and Will have been in session for half an hour now. Sitting comfortably on the opposite chair was Hannibal and Will on the other side. "With every choice lies the
possibility of regret. However, if I choose not to do something, it's usually for a good reason."
Will relaxes comfortably in the chair opposite Hannibal. He listens carefully to what Hannibal has to say just like always. "I'm riddled with regrets."
"A life without regret is no life at all." Hannibal replies completely without fault.
Will's voice is calm and collected as he spoke. Though hints of darkness drip from each word. "I regret what I did in the stables"
Hannibal dipped his head to the side. "Then...you were lucky I was there."
Will hums slightly considering Hannibal's words, "Being lucky isn't the same as making a mistake. Allowing you to stop me was a mistake."
Those were certainly not the words Hannibal expected to come from Will. "Then it's not your actions that you regret. It is the lack thereof."
Will nods ever so slightly, "That would be more accurate." He replies softly, he was slowly accepting his true self.
"Did you make that decision on the
basis of anticipating the regret you would feel taking another life?"Will's reply was pretty much instant to that question no pause to think at all. He knew. "Yes"
"Anticipating regret commonly
results in dubious decisions." Hannibal spoke softly, pausing for a moment before continuing. "You must adapt your behavior to avoid feeling the same way again."Will was silent for a moment as he nurses those words in his mind. His gaze away from Hannibal's eyes.
"Adapt"
"Evolve"
"Become"
With each word, Will's gaze slowly finds Hannibal's own once again.
A ghost of smile trails on Hannibal's lips. "I want you to close your eyes Will... and imagine a version of events you wouldn't have regretted."
Will smiles slightly as he see's the slight tug of a smile on your lips. Will then nods slightly before he closes his eyes. When he opens them, we are in the barn at the animal rescue. Will stands holding his gun on Clark Ingram. Then the scene shifts, low growls echo in the barn and where Will once stood is a large black wolf with piercing oceanic blue eyes. The wolf charges and slams it's jaw around Clark Ingram's head and with a twist, bone snaps. Blood oozing from the wounds from the wolf's teeth.
Will still sat opposite Hannibal, slowly opens his eyes. There was something different about Will right now as he exits his mind.
Hannibal could see the sudden shift in Will's attitude, something about the air around him changed. It is stronger and sweeter than before. "What did you see?"
