Finally, an update! :D
Oh yeah, that's how I got myself into this situation. I looked up at the sky as if it were suddenly going to give me an answer. The rain pounded on my head ever harder. This was a sign from above saying this is what you get Yuzu when you play with others feelings. As the rain came down harder, I thought back to my first day meeting her again. Maybe if I could do it over I wouldn't be so stuck up my own butt! I couldn't help but I feeling like something had been ripped out my chest. Her eyes were so cold, but I deserved it. I knew that this wasn't something that would just blow over. Mei never gave her heart to anyone and somehow I slipped through the cracks. By the time I was thinking about telling her the truth..it was too late. She saw everything and threw me out.
I glanced back at the door contemplating knocking but I knew better. Walking away meant it was over for real. Shivering from the cold, I rose to my feet slowly then walked home. There was nothing I could do to make this right. What I did was horrible.I deserve this. I deserve all of this. Thankfully, no one can see the tears in my eyes from the rain. I could blame no one but myself. In the beginning it was just a bet. I got to see the real Mei. She was more than the president of the student council, more than someone untouchable, and more than what most students gave her credit for. I got to see her for who she really was, just another person trying to understand herself and have fun in the process.
I could stand here in the rain, let self-pity continue to control me or I could stand up and fight to win her back. If in the end she doesn't take me back at least I know I tried! I wiped tears from my eyes and ran home with determination that I could do anything!
The next day:
Rumors of our break-up spread. How in such a short period of time?! Internally groaning, I knew this would only make matters more complicated. I shuffled through the crowds of girls that tried to talk to Mei.
"I'm sorry Yuzu was such a jerk. Please consider me as your next partner", one small girl said bowing with a love letter in her hand. Calling me a jerk was entirely a low blow. I knew what I did was wrong but I would really need to step up my game with Mei receiving so many love confessions. The crowd parted, for a moment our eyes met. I truly believed she was looking at me. Instead she stepped past me flipping her hair. I knew what that really meant. Anyone in walking distance did too. The halls were quiet but the stares were loud. Daggers pointed at me in every direction. Not only did Mei hate me, most of the school did as well. I avoided eye contact with other students until I made it to my classroom. Harumin was talking to another student when she saw the dejected look on my face. She forced me to open up because she couldn't stand that I wasn't my normal cheerful self.
"I already knew what happened, but let me heard your version" Harumin said grabbing my shoulder.
I told her everything leading up until a few moments ago.
"Seriously? You actually like the prez?" Harumin said in shock.
"Is this some kind of joke? Please tell me this a joke" She said shouting.
"Stop making fun of me." I said turning red and looking at the floor of the classroom.
"I'm sorry..it's just so funny. Here I thought you really hated her." Harumin now laughing at the situation.
"It's totally not funny. She refuses to talk to me. I really screwed this up!" Sighing I slumped down in my seat.
"Well, I guess it's time we work together to get her back." Harumin making her typical cheesy smile and thumbs up.
I lifted my head and couldn't help but smile. Maybe, just maybe this could work. Harumin spent the rest of homeroom helping me to devise a plan: Operation Get Her Back. It was going to be flashy, but that was Harumin's style. Even though she aided me in the bet situation, she was more than willing to make up for it. By lunch we were going over the plan. It seemed oddly farfetched but, with her help I prayed that I could win her back.
"Hey, I am smart too! Never forget that." She winked at me.
