“Brielle! Brielle wake up!” I hear my roommate Audrey practically scream in my ear.  I set my alarm for 7 but that didn’t seem to stop her from waking me up 5 minutes before.

“Every minute counts by the way. Thanks for waking me up 5 minutes before needed” I say back to her.

“Sorry I’m just really excited for the first day! We aren’t the babies of the school anymore! We are finally sophomores so no more “freshman initiation” or shit like that!”

As much as I hate school, I was pretty excited to start sophomore year. Freshman year wasn’t so bad at Stanford but being a sophomore would be better. It meant more classes with upperclassmen and that was something to be excited about.

I’m not really the type to dress up but I guess since it’s the first day I would put a little effort into my appearance. Audrey on the other hand was like a fashion guru. As I was straightening my hair, I saw her contemplating between a pink sundress and a burgundy skirt with a white fitted crop top.

“I’d go with the dress. Pink looks nice and it makes you look way tanner” I told her before she got the chance to ask me what I thought.

“Thanks! Are you gonna dress up even a little for all those juniors and seniors?!” she winked back at me.

“I’m not showing up to class in a dress Audrey. But hey I straightened my hair so I think I look pretty decent” I reply which made me question if there was anything wrong with my slightly ripped jeans and gray t-shirt.

She laughed and continued curling her hair which I took as a sign that I looked fine. I finished putting on mascara and we both headed out the door.

Our first class wasn’t until nine so we both grabbed some breakfast before we got to class. Luckily, Audrey and I both had English first. I’m not a fan of reading so this really isn’t my cup of tea but oh well.

We grabbed seats in the middle of the auditorium and the room filled up pretty quickly.

“Oh my god Brielle… don’t make it obvious but isn’t that boy to my left two rows behind us just so hot?” Audrey whispered in my ear so nobody would hear.

I turned to see a blonde guy wearing red shorts and a white polo crowded around all his friends who seemed to be dressed pretty similar.

“Ummm… I guess… if that’s your type” I said with a little laugh at the end.

Audrey and I had different taste in guys. She liked them fratty. I don't really have a type on the otherhand. I can only hope that there will be somebody in this school that will catch my eye.
