Ten Years Later
"Come on y'all let's say grace. Dean, stop running through the house baby." Rose said while putting a large smoked ham in the center of the dining room table.
"Mmmm everything smells delicious babe." Dominic said, entering the kitchen from the living room followed by Darron and Trina.
Their twin daughter and son came and found a seat.
It wasn't a holiday or anyone's birthday, but it was just a day that Dominic decided to give a good meal to the people that he loves. Well, he paid for it but Rose did all the cooking.
They talked and laughed about old times over red wine and a lovely meal. Looking back over his life, Dominic never thought that he would be blessed enough to live a life this good. He had his wife and two kids, planning for more. He made things right with his parents, and over the year got to know his long lost family back in Columbus. Dom was surrounded by love and the feeling was overwhelming.
He stood up from the table, "toast."
Everyone lifted their glasses and gave him his full attention. "To family, love and happiness. I can now saw I reached the happiest point of my life. Thanks to Darron, for being my brother and always having my back. Thanks to Trina for loving him and getting him to man up and settle down. And the icing on the cake...thank you Rose, for showing me something different. For being beautifully unique. For being patient and kind with me. I love you forever my wife, Rose Taylor."
Rose smiled, but held back her tears. Nothing made her feel more warm inside than for her husband to utter the words I love you.
Together they clinked glasses, "family love and happiness."
