Chapter 1- Where am I?

-Angela's POV-

"Mum, I think you should sleep, it's been a long day," I told my fussy mum who is walking back and fourth  trying to find a place to put her favorite vase, "if you're not going to sleep then do you want any help?"

"I think it'll look nice here," she whispered to herself, completely ignoring me then she shook her head answering my question.

"If you're not going to sleep or no longer need my help then I'm going to sleep," I said standing up.

As I was about to walk to my room my mum stopped me.

"Don't be a selfish child and help me finish organizing the house," she told me and I turned around, feeling a bit taken back.

So  I offered to help and she shakes her head meaning 'no', now shes moaning that I'm not helping her.

This women.

I was about to say something to back myself up but I stopped when my brother walked through the door.

We both stared at Jake who stared back.

"Is everything okay?" he asked.

"Where have you been you useless boy," my mum raised her voice whilst placing her hands on her hips.

He also looked taken back when my mum called him 'useless' then he turned to face me.

"What did you do?" he asked me, "why is she mad?"

I put my hands up in defense.

"I didn't do anything," I said, "you're the one who hasn't helped us unpacked at all."

"I went to meet my girlfriend," he replied making me and my mum both look at him again.

My mum grabbed a newspaper and smacked him on the head.

"I didn't raise you to go meet a girl without bringing her home for my approval first and I certainly did not raise a boy who would choose to be with a girl instead of his family!" she shouted smacking him even more.

My brother started laughing and ran around the sofa to hide behind me.

"Come on Ma, I'm not ready to bring her home yet," he said grabbing onto my shoulders.

"I better meet her soon," she gave him a warning look whilst pointing the newspaper at him.

I smiled.

"I want to meet this mystery girl as well," I looked at him.

"Soon Angie, soon," was all he said before he went into his room.

I rolled my eyes and started walking to my room but my mum stopped me again.

"Wait, you can't go sleep yet."

I sighed and turned back round to face her.

"Ma, I start my new school tomorrow and you're not letting me sleep?" I walked up to her, "what happened to education before anything else?"

I hugged her and gave her my puppy face that doesn't normally work but I'll still do it anyway.

"Aw my sweet baby," she smiled and rubbed my cheeks so I smiled back.

It actually worked this time?

She grabbed my shoulders and pulled me off her.

"Go and buy me some milk and eggs from the store around the corner," she pointed at the door.
