We pull into the high school and get out of the Jeep."Run along now.", I taunt at Jessica. She rolls her eyes and hops away towards her waiting friends. I shake my head, smirk, and walk towards the school. The building is so large, it could easily accommodate more than a thousand young mammals.

"Hey Justin!", a voice says behind me. I turn to see one of my best friends, a gray wolf named Darell Wulfric. He wears a black t-shirt and shorts.

"Hey Darrell.", I say with a smirk,"You excited for tonight?"

"Definitely!", he says back.

Tonight, one of the most popular animals in school, a lion named Brock, is throwing a party to kick start the summer. The only problem is, how am I supposed to convince my police officer parents to let me go? Don't worry, yours truly has a plan for that.

Me and Darrell start walking towards first period when suddenly, a female Arctic Fox named Kayla White (My other best friend),  jumps out from behind a half closed locker."Boo!", she screams as she jumps out. Both me and Darrell yell, jump back, and hit the floor hard."You should have seen your faces!", she taunts in between laughs.

Darrell gets up and growls angrily,"It's not funny, Kayla!", he says with an angry expression on his face.

"It's a little funny.", she says while smirking. I laugh and look at her, getting up. She wears her usual black t-shirt, ripped jeans, and a leather jacket. With her outfit, she seems like a rebel but she actually likes to play by the rules. I admire her white fur coat and sky blue eyes for awhile until I feel my cheeks getting red under my fur. I turn away quickly to stop blushing then turn back.

"You got us Kayla.", I say with a smile.

"Thanks Justin!", she smiles back at me. After Darrell makes a few more angry comments, he walks away towards his first period class.

"So...", I say awkwardly.

"So...", she says back.

I work up the courage...,"W-would you...", and ALMOST say it..., "Would you happen to be going to the party tonight?"

"Yes, yes I am", she says.

"Cool, I'll see you there then.", I say.

"See ya then!", she says before walking away. Leaving me there, feeling stupid. 'Why couldn't I have inherited my father's flirting skills?', I think to myself. I then walk to my class, barely making it on time. At least that's one thing I got from my dad.
