Parry.

Dodge.

Attack.

Parry.

Stab.

Repeat.

"Fall back!" I could faintly hear Peter yell as I brought yet another Telmarine down to his knees.

Many of the Narnians kept on fighting even though time was ruining out to escape. I only made it a few feet before another Telmarine blocked the way to the only exit.

Parry.

Find an opening.

Attac-

"Your majesty!" A centaur intervened. "Go! Make your way to the gate!"

"But-"

"Go! Now!" Before any other words could be exchanged the Minotaur that was holding the gate started to fall.

Running as fast as I could while also trying to add as much damage I could to the opposing army, I ran for the exit.

My hand touched to cool metal just as the Minotaur was shot down by archers.

"Peter!" I screamed as loud as I could. His horse wasn't that far ahead. My voice somehow reached his ears and his head turned. His eyes locked with mine, only thing showing was true fear. "Go! We will fight as long as we can!"

His mouth was moving, kind of like he was yelling, but his voice never reached me since with every passing second, rows of Narnians fell at the gate.

I never heard his voice, only the sounds of terror and death as an arrow dug it's way into my back before my knees gave away and I fell to the ground along with the rest of the fallen Narnians lying around the courtyard.

Drifting between the states of conscious and unconscious, the pain in my back no longer spread to the rest of my body, but started to dull.

Opening my eyes for what possibly was the last time, I turned my head to see many bodies scattering the cobble, but many were still standing fighting when there was absolutely no chance of victory.

After what seems like just a normal blink, everything was quiet and slightly lighter. Staring up into the sky, the stars were no longer visible.

Collecting all of the strength I had left in my body, I managed to turn my head enough to see that there were many sleeping bodies on the ground.

Well, I'd like to think that they were sleeping.

My breath turned raspy and my body felt numb. How much longer will I feel like this?

I closed my eyes once more.

Something was nudging my head. It felt hard. Was someone poking me with a stick to make sure I was dead?

My question was soon answered as I heard the soft grunt of a gryphon above me. I tried to pick up my hand to show him I was indeed still living. He had already nuzzled his head and a part of his neck under my back, trying to avoid my injury.

After trial and error, he had somehow managed to get me to lay on my stomach on his back. The wind that was flowing through my hair was a tell that we had made it out of the haunting courtyard.

Now hearing the clacking of his hooves, I could only guess that we were back at the How. My body once again aching from the slight bouncing of the gryphon's walking.

Gasps and sighs of relief, even some crying made its way to my ears, perking them up when a familiar voice rang.

I was carefully placed on something quite hard, which was probably the stone table if I wanted to use my brain. Something small, yet warm found it way between the slight gap of my lips.

Lucy.

"Yes, I'm here, Y/N." I could hear the tears in her voice. I just wanted to wrap my arms around her neck and hug her so tightly. "You scared us so much. Mostly Edmund."

Edmund? Why mostly Ed?

"He had to be pacing all night long." This time there was a small laugh at the end of her sentence.

I guess I made some kind of noise that showed discomfort, since she then said, "Get some rest, you'll be all good by morning."

The feeling of someone's hand on mine made me open eyes. Ed was standing over me. His one hand trancing patterns in my skin and the other smoothing out my hair that was sprawled all around.

"You're okay." His voice was filled with disbelief.

The corners of my mouth twitched into a smile, "You're not getting rid of me that easily."

He showed a soft smile before leaning down and kissing my forehead. "I don't know what I would have done if I lost you."

I closed my eyes as he said those words. Happiness filled my entire body.

With my newly gained strength, I push myself up to lean on my elbows, and I kissed him.

Okay I'm going to go kill myself now because of how bad this was.
(My friend was singing kill yourself by Bo Burnham right as I typed that 😂)
