Prom.
"Huy! Tara sasayaw!" pag-aya sa 'kin ng mga kaibigan ko.
"Ayoko."
"Ang kj mo naman! Prom naman ngayon! Ano ka ba! Dapat ineenjoy 'yan."
Umiling na lang ako sa kanila bilang pagtanggi.
Prom is the highlight of being highschool. It was the most wonderful part of highschool life.
But for me?
Nah. Mas gugustuhin ko pa dito sa gilid. Nanonood sa mga taong sumasayaw.
Wallflower.
I'm much better here. I enjoyed watching couples, dance.
I was just observing people, then suddenly, I felt someone's presence beside me.
"Hey."
I looked at him.
"Hi."
I just stare..
"Uhh.. wanna dance?"
Inilahad niya sa harap ko ang kamay niya..
"Come on. This is the last dance, and a last chance to enjoy this night."
He smiled and looked at me in the eye.
Then just like that.. I felt sparks.
Wala sa sariling ipinatong ko ang kamay ko sa ibabaw ng kamay niya.
He smiled. He led me to the dance floor. Hinawakan niya ang kamay ko at inilagay sa balikat niya, samantalang ang mga kamay niya ay humawak sa baywang ko.
Everything was just so perfect.
Slowly.. we started dancing.
It was romantic. Everything falls into their right places. Sparks, flowers, butterflies, slow dance.
"So.. hi, again."
I chuckled. "Hello."
Napatigil siya at napatulala sa 'kin.
"This is the first time I hear your voice."
I just smiled.
"Uhh.. may sasabihin sana ako."
"Hmm?"
He sighed.
"I.. like you."
And.. that was, a year ago.
It's not all about sparks and butterflies. Sometimes, the dark and rain must come. Love and trust were needed to survive.
But we didn't.
"Come on! Sasayaw tayo!"
Right. Tonight's prom..
"Kayo na lang."
"Kj! Grabe. Last prom na 'to!"
"I'm fine here."
I'm fine being a wallflower.
I'm fine sitting near a wall and watching them dance.
Watching him dance.. with another woman.
"Hi."
Nangyayari na naman.
"See this?"
But tonight's different.
It's not all about me being a wallflower.
"Beautiful wallflower.." I whispered.
But a flower grown in an near old wall where I was sitting.
He smiled.
"You're the most beautiful wallflower."
