They call my family dysfunctional. I wouldn't say dysfunctional, I would say interesting. My parents are divorced, my dad is an alcoholic, and my sister went missing seven years ago. Despite all of this, I am a pretty good kid if I do say so myself. I never break the rules, and have straight A's. My dad is proud of me, I think. He is all I have. My mom stepped out of the picture when I was four years old. Madison, my sister, went missing two years after that. We don't know why she left. The whole town searched for two months. Madison was no where to be found.
"J-Jack, come down here n-now," dad stammered. I walked down the stairs to find my dad drunk laying on the floor. "Are you kidding me dad? It's only seven o'clock," I said. I helped him to bed and called his girlfriend, Chealse. She decided to come over and help him all day, while I was at school.
As I was walking to school, I saw my bestfriend, Alexa. I ran to catch up with her. "Why do you smell like Alcohol?" "My dad was drunk again this morning," I sighed. "Oh, I'm sorry... Happy Birthday by the way," She said as she pulled out a card. "Shit, I forgot it was my birthday. Thank you Alexa," I said. Then the pieces came together. My dad was drunk, because today was the day my sister disappeared. She was fourteen and today I turn fourteen.
As we approached the school, I began feeling sick. "Alexa, I don't feel so good," I said. "You'll be fine," she replied. That's when I turned around and ran. "Jack! Jack, what are you doing?" Alexa screamed. I tried stopping but I couldn't my legs kept running even though I didn't want them to. My legs started to slow down as I reached the woods. "Help, Can someone help me?" A girl called out. I looked around then saw Madison running along the river.
