Death and My Love

The dark lips graze, and cut my cheek.
I cannot find the words to speak.

"Do not fear." Says the smoky voice
It's as if I have no choice

"My love..." I mumble, entranced by love
The voice, "who is this love you speak of?"

A sneer, a smirk, so dark and deep
The being that causes me to weep

The being, the dark that pity's no soul
"Death..." I mumble, "You will not condole."

And with a twist, he whisks away
He's not the one I wish to stay

I see him, then, my familiar one
Shining brightly, like the sun

The sting, the hurt, "please don't go...."
"Please don't cry, for I love you so."

An icy tear so graciously falls
My once tall heart now feels so small

I grasp his hand, and soon let go
Feeling my tears fall like snow

"So cold." I observe, and he takes my hand.
"Think of me in warmth, our time together was grand."

So silently I sob, and force a smile
"Part not too long, just for a while."

A shake of his head and a glimpse of a tear
"I would wait for you forever, my dear."
