Thursday, October 20th, 2011: Aradia's POV
It was three in the morning and my phone was blasting Brooke's ringtone. I picked up after getting over the blinding light. "Hmm," I groaned sleepily.
"Did you tell anyone about JD?" Brooke asked in a serious tone.
I sat up, a little more attentive. "What? Of course not. Why the fuck would I do that?" I asked worriedly.
"Well, my mom received a phone call from an 'anonymous male' claiming we were gonna blow up the school," she said. "So, she came in here searching my room about a hour ago."
"At two in the morning?" I asked with my eyebrows raised.
"Element of surprise," she explained.
"Ah, gotcha," I said remembering for a moment when my mom came in my room at six in the morning demanding my phone when I was fifteen so I couldn't wipe the messages out. "So, if she just searched your room, why the hell are you calling me about JD when she could possibly hear you?"
"She took a pill and went to sleep," she said. "Thank God you keep the stuff with you."
"Mhm," I said. "Wait, an anonymous male called?"
Silence came for a moment the we both said at the same time, "Jacob!"
"Fuck!" Brooke yelled. "Imma kill him!"
"Tomorrow, okay?" I said. "Night."
Friday, November 4th, 2011: Brooke's POV
I sat through my last class contemplating new and improved ways to kill Jake. I was fuming not because Aradia and I were so close to getting caught, because he wouldn't stop being a dick. When the bell rang and I finished grabbing my stuff from my locker, I stormed outside. I saw Jake standing towards the end of the sidewalk. I walked up to him and shoved him so hard that he stumbled back. "What the fuck is your problem?" I asked through gritted teeth.
He smirked. "Did mommy like her tip?"
I had enough. I punched him square in the face and since everyone was watching and dead silent, we all heard the sound of his nose breaking. Blood sprayed and he fell on his ass. I got on top of him and kept punching. People started recording this on their phones for about two minutes until Aradia came up and pulled me off of him. I resisted but she whispered, "Enough, someone just went inside for the principal."
I got up and looked down at Jake. His nose and lip were bleeding and his eye was blackening and starting to swell. We went to Aradia's car and she said, "You do know he's gonna press charges right?"
I sat in silence. Aradia looked at me for a second then started the car. She drove away from the school. After awhile I realized we were driving down a familiar route. It looked like the back way to Jordan's house. "Why are we going to Jordan's house," I asked. Aradia said nothing. We pulled into his driveway.
Friday, November 11th, 2011: Brooke's POV
This was the end of the first week without a laptop, TV, or phone. My mom grounded me for two weeks for beating up Jake and getting a three hundred dollar fine for disorderly conduct. I had been in touch with Aradia through my Ipod and in school. I slung my bag over my shoulder and walked out the door to Aradia's car. "Hey," she said with her normal look of tiredness.
"Hi," I said. "Next Friday I get my shit back."
"Tis good," she replied. "I wonder if Jake's eye is still swollen shut."
"Ha, if it is, it was so worth it," I laughed. "But I don't think he'll learn."
"Probably not."
"He will in May."
Aradia smiled. She pulled into the school lot and we got out of the car. Aradia tapped me on the shoulder and pointed towards the doors. There stood Emma, Tyler, and Jake with a swollen eye. We started to walk into school until Emma grabbed me by the shirt and pinned me against the wall. "May I help you?" I asked with a sarcastic politeness.
"You're a whore. You beat up my boyfriend," she fumed.
"Um, I'm a whore for beating up your boyfriend? And aren't you a bit late? I did that a week ago," I laughed.
"How dare you touch him? You should be bowing down to him, as well as me and Tyler."
"Now, why in God's name would I do something like that? I'd rather stick lit cigarettes into my eyes than bow down to your bitchiness."
She spit in my face. "Wait until after school, you and your girlfriend are dead meat."
"I'm terrified Emma," Aradia said. "Now, do you mind letting go of Brooke? I'm sure she isn't into your slutty self."
Emma let go of me and I wiped the spit off my face. Her, Jake, and Tyler walked into the school. "I heard the football team and cheerleaders are upset with us," Aradia said,
"Same old, same old," I replied walking up to my locker. "Can't they find something new?"
"Idunno," Aradia said. "I gotta get my books, see you at lunch."
I said nothing as she walked off. I opened my locker to see a note. Just wonderful I thought. I opened it and it said: You stupid bitch. How dare you disrespect Jake like that? How dare your girlfriend disrespect Emma? I threw the note aside, what would they do? Shove me into a locker.....again?
2:30 pm, Friday, November 11th, 2011: Aradia's POV
Brooke and I walked out of the building to my car. Today had been hell. From having my lunch pushed onto me to being pulled out of class for "drugs," I just wanted to go home. I stopped dead in my tracks so Brooke almost ran into me. "Wha- oh shit," she said.
My car had been keyed, egged, and spray painted.I must've gotten the look I get when I'm about to get psychotically angry because even Brooke backed away. "Aradia, please calm down," she pleaded until we heard laughter from behind another car. Brooke close her eyes cause she knew what was happening. Emma, Jake, Tyler, a boy from the football team; Hunter Right, and a girl from the cheerleading squad; Jennifer Holston, stepped out from behind the car holding a plastic bag filled with eggs, empty glass bottles, and spray paint. "How do you like the new detailing?" Tyler asked with a laugh.
"It kinda matches her, ugly," laughed Jennifer.
"Oh what? You gonna cry now?" Hunter sneered.
"Back off!" Brooke yelled. "Now!"
"You're not intimidating honey," Jennifer said.
They all laughed and Emma pulled out a bottle and threw it at me. It smashed at my feet and I looked up at her with my face about as red as her Corvette. "Cry, bitch, cry," Emma taunted. "Come one, show us how weak you are."
She threw another bottle and it smashed near Brooke's feet. "You're not aiming right," Jake said. It was the first thing he said since the incident. He grabbed a bottle and chucked it at Brooke's head. She ducked and it smashed into the brick wall behind us.
"In the car, now," I said to Brooke as another bottle whizzed past us and smashed into another kid's car. She ran in and Hunter chucked the last bottle that smashed against my open door sending a few shards towards my arm. I started the car and managed to get out of the lot without hitting them, which was tempting may I add. I dropped off Brooke first since she wasn't allowed at my house then headed home. Once I got in, I ran up to my room and punched the wall creating a hole. "Just until May," I whispered. "Just until May."
