Chapter 5

Alica's Pov
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

Jay and I hugged each other tightly while screaming. In the door way of my closet, was a 6 foot man with all black on. He held his gun out to us.

"Make one more sound, and I will shoot" His voice was deep. I can not explain how scared I felt in the moment. This might be the last time I see Jay. The last time I see my family. The last time I see my boyfriend. The last time..... I see anything.

As I was thinking about my death. I heard a crash. The stranger fell to the floor not moving. Standing above him was Issa holding a broken lamp. "Issa!" I screamed, and ran to him. He dropped the lamp and hugged me. "Are you ok?" He asked me. I nodded. He looked at the man.

"That little son of a bitch" He said. I went back over to Jay. "Jay are you ok?" She nodded and stood up. We walked out of my closet. The police was already here and looking through the house. There were a lot, which didnt seem normal.

"Bring in the stretcher. We're gonna need some investigators for this one. " I heard a lady say into her walkie talkie. I hurriedly ran through the house. "Alica!" Issa's calls were heard but I ignored them. There was a group of police men huddled in one spot. I ran over to it. But regretted it immediately.

"MOM!"

I ran over to where my mom lay on the floor unconscious, a pool of blood surrounded her. I kneeled down besides her and cried. "Mom" I whimpered. I put her head on my lap. "M-mom. I'm s-sorry. This is all my fault" The people came and took her away on a stretcher. I was still sitting on the ground. Issa was crying and came besides me and hugged me. We both cried. I leaned my head on his shoulder. We stood up and walked outside. Jay came over to me and hugged me. I sat on the curb and listened to the sirens and watched all the lights. It's like someone put the world on mute, and played slow motion.

Down the road I saw a faint light of a car. It came closer and closer untill it stopped at my house. Hayes got out with a worried expression on his face. He went over to Issa. Issa pointed over to where I was. Hayes ran over to me. I stood up and started crying again. He hugged me as I put my head on his shoulder and sobbed even harder. Dad was comforting Issa while Hayes' mom was rubbing my back. Hayes was whispering sweet things to me and telling me it was going to be ok.

Hayes' mom asked if I wanted to stay at her house tonight, which I agreed to. We got to Hayes' house and we went to his room. He layed a blanket on the floor and a pillow. "You can have the bed" He said. "You sure?" I asked. He nodded. I got into his bed. As he was about to lay down, I stopped him.

"Hayes?" I said. He hummed in response. "Will you, um, sleep with me?" I asked nervously. He smiled and layed down besides me. He put his arm around my waist and his head nuzzled in my hair.

"I love you" He said. I turned around so I was facing him. "I love you too" He leaned in and kissed me. I gladly kissed back. We pulled apart as he put his arm back around my waist. "Good night Angel" He said. I smiled. "Good night"

"Alica, Alica wake up its time for school" Someone was shaking me trying to wake me up. I opened my eyes. Hayes was standing over me. "Good morning" He said. I smiled. "Morning" I got up and went to get clothes, untill I remembered. "Uhh, Hayes? Can I borrow a shirt?" He smiled and got out one of his shirts. I smiled and went for the bathroom and put it on. It was was to big, but it looked cute. I walked out of the bathroom and down the stairs. Hayes was waiting for me. He tossed me an apple.

"Thanks" I said. He smiled and grabed my hand and walked out the door towards his car.

Time Skip To School

I got out of the car and held Hayes' hand. People around us started and some made dirty faces. We walked through the double doors and towards our lockers. Some girls came up to me.

"Hey Alica, I heard what happened. I'm soooo sorry" One of them said. I smiled. "It's ok" They walked off as I put my stuff away. Hayes put his arm around my waist. "Ready for class?" He asked me. I nodded as we walked down the school halls.

Time Skip To After School

I got into Hayes' car as we started to drive. We were headed to the hospital to go see mom. I hope she's OK. Hayes looked at me with a worried expression.

"Don't worry Alica, she's probaly fine. Don't over think it" He said with a comforting tone. I smiled. "Thanks Hayes, that really means a lot. " He smiled then turned his attention towards the rode.

"Oh mom, please wake up. You can't leave me yet. Not now, I need y-you" My voice cracked at the end as I held my mother's hand. She was in a coma. She looked so fragile in the hospital bed. Issa squeezed my shoulder.

"We should be going Alica. It's getting late" I looked up at him and nodded my head while standing up. "I think I'm gonna stay at Jay's tonight" I said. Issa nodded his head. "Ill drive you there" I nodded as we walked out of the hospital and towards the car.

"Come on Alica, stop worrying! She'll be fine" I looked at Jay. "Your right Jay, I'm sorry for being so....depressing" She hugged me. "It's fine! Let's get back to our game" I nodded and and put my candy land person four spaces up.

"Ha! I win!" I stood up and did my happy dance. "No fair!You cheated!" Jay whined.
"No I didn't!,"

"Did not!'

"Did too!"

"Did not!"

"Did to!"

I gave up and plopped down on Jay's bed. I sighed. "What's wrong?" Jay asked while sitting next to me. "I just have a....weird feeling" I said as my foreboding grew. "She rolled her eyes. "Alica!Stop worrying! She's fi-" Jay got cut off be my phone ringing. I picked it up.

Unknown Caller

I showed Jay. She shrugged. "Maybe it's something important. Answer it" I shrugged and pressed answer.

"Hello?" I said. "Hello, is this Alica Twaimz?" I looked at Jay. "Yes. And who might this be?" The man on the other phone sighed. "I am Dr.James. From the District hospital. I have some... unfortunate news" I looked at Jay with worry in my eyes.

"Um..ok what is it?" I asked nervously. The Doctor responded, and at that moment, I wanted to die.

"I'm sorry, but your mother is dead"
