The door

I had been waiting outside on the side of the house next to my bike for five minutes, I didn't know what To do so I just sat there thinking of what would happen. I wondered if it was a boy or a girl, or even if my parents would still know I existed when the baby was born. I mean of course they would... right? After a couple minutes of just sitting there I heard the front door open and then voices. I went stiff as a doornail hoping to not get seen. I heard a car start, probably my aunt's car, then listened as the car drove away. After that I just got on my bike and went back to the library. After locking up my bike and taking the book from the basket I went through the doors and said hello to Ms. Brachen. Going back to my chair and opening the book and started reading. I tried to get lost in the words, but my mind was just to jumbled. I decided to just walk around. Id been coming here for a while and the library was a pretty good size, but i explored everything and anything in here. I had already walked through the romance and mystery section when i reached fantasy. My favorite section. I was looking at my favorite book when all of a sudden i tripped, just out of nowhere i fell. I didn't have time to question it because i saw an outline of something behind a chair across the room. I got curious. I got up and crossed the room to the chair. A beautiful fuscia color. I had a hard time moving it but slowly and surely i got it moved just enough to look behind the chair. There was the outline i had seen before, but now it was shaped as an odd thick door, but it didn't even have a doorknob. I was so curious now, but the chair was so unbelievable heavy i couldn't move it any more. I can't believe after spending three years coming to this library and exploring every inch i hadn't noticed it before, but then again it was hidden behind a chair. Being i couldn't move the chair i just left it there, a few inches from the wall. I went back to my chair and sat there, questioning the door, and why it's even there.

It was 3:15 only two hours since lunch and another three till dinner, but i still had my books to keep me busy. Even with the baby on the way i was thankfully still able to read and get lost in anything and everything in my book... sometimes. I was able to read without getting distracted. I hadn't even realized i fell asleep until Ms. Brachen shook me awoke telling me it was about 5:52. I start freaking out realizing i was going to be late for dinner. I usually left about 5:45 to avoid the traffic because rush hour around here is 6. I sprang up from my chair, dropping the book i had in my lap onto the floor. Quickly picking up the book and saying my gratitudes to Ms. Brachen i sprinted out the door and to my bike. I was in such a hurry i had a hard time putting the key into my bike lock. After what felt like forever i finally unlocked my bike and threw the lock and the book into my basket. I pedaled as hard and as fast as i could trying not to be late. If i was to be late i'd get a mouth full from my father saying i shouldn't be late because my mom spent her time preparing a wonderful meal for us and that being late meant i wasn't grateful. I've already got the lecture once and wasn't planning to again. Practically throwing my bike on the wall on the side of my house, i jumped off and ran to the door. Calmly walking through the door not wanting to make a scene i immediately notice something in the hallway by the door. A big package, that must be for my father because hes the only one who gets packages around here.

"Sophie is that you?"

" Yes mother."

Well good you made it just in time for dinner."

I sigh thankfully now knowing i made it in time for dinner. After my mother finishes talking my father walks down the stairs and gives me a giant bear hug.

"How was your day sweetie?"

" Same as always, how was your day?"

" Well you know Craig the who came over last sunday for brunch? Well he got a promotion!"

" That's great dad."

I say with a smile. My dad and i always got along great. We all sit down for dinner and we start serving ourselves the chicken, mashed potatoes, and salad my mom made. My mom and dad start having a conversation about what my dad's work schedule was for next week and how my moms day went. When everyone was served we took a moment of silence to just enjoy that we have a lovely home and the food in front of us. Then everyone dug in. The food was so good i hadn't even noticed my moms was trying to talk to me until my dad said something.

"Sophie."

" Huh.. what yes?"

Your mother is trying to talk to you."

Sorry." I can't help but blush.

"So about this baby... i want you to know were are going to need your help, making sure everything's in order, we're also going to try to include everyone and not leave anyone out."

" Mom like i said before im happy for you and dad, i'm ok, don't worry about me."

After that akward talk everything was quiet for awhile. Finally my dad started talk about what they had to get for the baby and i totally blanked out. When i was done i put my plate in the sink and told my parents i was going up to my room and probably won't be out again tonight. To which they both replied with i love you and goodnight and then i walked up the stairs down the hall and in my room.
