The journey

Adam let me sleep in his bedroll while he slept against a wall. I argued of course but he insisted being the handsome gentle man he is. I woke up to adam staring at me but quickly looked away noticing me awake now.

"How did you sleep? well i hope." Adam says looking back at me.

" Yes i slept fine thank you. How did you sleep i can't imagine that wall being very comfortable."

" I slept ok thanks for the concern."

" No problem." I get up and out of the bedroll and stretch.

" So we start to head out in a little better eat something before we leave." he says while nodding towards some meat placed in a cloth.

I quickly stride towards the meat and pick up a slice.

" So what made you decide to work for the king?" I ask wanting to know more about Adam.

" My home was destroyed in a fire and i was the only one to get out alive. I tried to save my family but it was to late the flames engulfed the house." He says looking away.

" I'm sorry i shouldn't have asked."

" No you are fine i need to talk about with someone i guess."

We sat in silence after that. I finish my piece of meat which was exceptionally very good. Adam at some point got up to roll up the bedroll and start to pack. I watched as he flexed his muscles to pick up his pack.

"Ready?"

" Yeah let's go."

my knees stopped bleeding some time in the night and it hurt to bend down but walking i was fine. I didnt explore anywhere after the camp so i was intrigued. As we neared the entrance of the cave i could see a field of grass and flower. I'd never seen any of the flowers before. The cave was up a hill so we had to climb down.

" So how far is the castle from here?" i ask

" About a half a fortnight." he says calmly.

" A WEEK! That's so long!"

" Would you prefer to stay in the cave?"

" No thanks."

" Well then don't complain."

In awkward silence we continued down the hill and through the field.

" What kind of flowers are these i've never seen them before."

" Those are actually thilis there known for their unique color."

He was right it was a mix of what looked like purple, orange, and green. Everything look normal except for the flowers and the occasional animals i saw. We soon enter what looked like a forest.

" This is the forest of Narieh, the biggest forest inTheriusta."

There was a bird who had a beak of a penguin and wings of an eagle it was so weird. I didnt was to ask to many questions so i just stayed quiet and observed. Then all of a sudden all the birds in the trees around us got startled and flew away.

"Why'd they fly away? Only one reason." he whispered

" follow me."

He started to walk towards a really big tree and of course i followed starting to become scared. SCCRAWW! WWWHHHHOOOOSSSHHH. I started to run after Adam. He soon stopped under the humongous tree and crouch. I followed his moves, ignoring the pain in my now bleeding knees. Another big gush of wind and whoosh the black blur was flying away.

" What the hell was that!"

" That was the ravanis the biggest and worst bird in all of this land. There are very few left, because they are so dangerous they have to be killed."

" Ok is there anything else i should know about before we continue!"

" Yes, there is only one other dangerous being here. The Liaith is the biggest animal here and has huge claws that can rip you half." He was being so calm about everything is was making me mad.

" How can you be so calm about his!"

" I grew up around this. My father taught me at a young age. Taught me how to handle all the danger and to always be calm no matter what because losing your emotions won't help your situation."

I immediately soften my features.

" I'm sorry."

" No need lets continue."

After the incident we continued with little talk but i learned he was 16. I was still in my black clothes and it was getting uncomfortable because the sun was getting pretty high into the sky. I couldn't concentrate after that ravanis disappeared. I wasn't paying attention to where i was going and tripped. Before i slammed against the ground i felt warm hands wrap around me. My feet were now suddenly planted firmly on the ground.

" You ok, you almost fell." Adam say

Yeah i'm fine." I say.

His hands still lingering around my waist. our body's inches apart. He suddenly realises he's still holding me and let's go. I flash him a quick smile and stare at my feet suddenly feeling self conscious.

"You wanna stop and eat something it's almost noon.

How did you know it's almost noon?" I ask curiously.

"I know it's almost noon because of the position of the sun."

Oh, well if you want to stop we can." I smile at him.

"Well we might as well stop to gather more strength. The journeys just begun."

We continued walking until i spotted a rock big enough that we could both sit on. We sat down and Adam pulled out the cloth from that morning with the meat inside. The silence while we ate was peaceful and nice. I let my thoughts fly away in my head. I accepted everything very quickly when i came out of that weird mysterious tunnel. I know it's weird but i felt safe with Adam and even weirder i felt like i'd been in this realm or world before. All of a sudden i remembered my parents. Did they know i was gone? Of course they did it's been half a day since i've left. Unless... unless time was different here. I know it sounds cliché but i've read a couple books were people going into a different realm and come back and no time has passed. I got shocked back into reality when Adam suddenly jumps off the rock landing perfectly on the ground. I hadn't even realized i finished my piece of meat until Adam reached his hand out for me to take.

"Come on we better get going if we want to stay on schedule."

I gratefully grab his hand and slid down the fairly large rock. Adam picked up his backpack he put besides the rock and we continued down the path.
