(If there are grammatical errors in this I’m sorry, it’s late for me so my brain isn’t functioning properly. I blame school. I’ll go back and fix them later. You’ve all been waiting so long, I figured just to give it to you now)

So this Chapter and the next will be memories of Pitch’s I know it may seem slow but it plays a part in the story I promise! I hope you are all enjoying it so far.  Sorry school has just been evil lately, along with writers block, I swear I get it every chapter about half way through writing it.

Some of these characters are mine. And if you haven’t realized who Nathaniel is yet. *cough cough* moonbeam *cough cough* Go and reread Flash of Gold.

 Chapter 5: Light

  (Pitch's Forgotten Memories)

“Nathaniel is this really necessary?” Pitch, ran behind the excited young man.  “I’m not quite sure we should be doing this. We need to be training.”

The blonde just laughed. “Just because you’re a general now doesn’t mean you need to be a spoil sport too Pitch. It’ll be fun! Besides, we’re doing what the other troops are anyway, and all we ever do is train. We need a break from all the fighting” He zipped down the military camp streets, turning quickly again.

Pitch just chuckled following behind only to find himself now careening to the ground. A sharp pain hit his shoulder as it took the brunt of the fall and he rolled on his back propping himself up with his elbows. It was then he realized he hadn't tripped over his own feet. Pitch's eyes widened seeing a girl with dark auburn hair, picking up a sheath of fallen knives and other weapons, gathering them into her arms, looking for the correct spot to place them. Training must have really paid off. Apparently he’d knocked over a table, which was probably why there were so many weapons on the ground. He quickly got to his feet helping her by first setting the table back up correctly next to the others. "I am so sorry. I wasn't paying attention. I-" He stopped as their hands skimmed as they both reached for a sword and he looked at her. She had the most stunning blue eyes he had ever seen.

The girl smiled brightly at him gripping the sword. "It's alright. There's no harm done I promise."

"You're certain?" He nodded, feeling his face heat up. "Alright. I..um.." Pitch extended a hand. "My name's Pitch."

Smiling she took it with her free hand. Pitch marveled at how strong her grip was. “Alina”

"Well it's a pleasure to meet you."

Nathaniel's voice echoed from ahead, catching the black haired boy's attention. "Pitch?! Where'd you go?" The boy emerged from the tree line, genuine worry in his voice. "There you are thank goodness! I thought the Fearling's had gotten to you."

"I'm fine Nathaniel, just give me a minute." Pitch turned back to Alina "I'll have to make this up to you soon"

"You don't need t-"

"I want to."

She blushed slightly holding the sword tighter. "Okay."

"Maybe I can help you with those knives." He smiled at her. "I'll see you around Alina” Backing up slowly he went back over to Nathaniel.

Nathaniel smiled knowingly a sign of laughter in his tone of voice, all worry gone. "Really? That was what you came up with? Help her with those knives? Pitch…She'll cream you. That's the Alina." The blonde laughed as the darker haired boy's face fell as a spark of recognition lit up his golden eyes. "She's the best knife thrower in the camp."

 ...

(One Year Later)

"You're seriously going through with this?" Nathaniel was the one for once trying to keep up with the lean man. "You're going to ask her? You're sure"

The dark haired man sighed. "Nathaniel." Pitch stopped and turned, taking Nathaniel by the shoulders. "I've never been more serious or more certain in my entire life." Blue eyes gazed into green before he gave a small nod.

“Well then.” Nathaniel punched Pitch lightly in the shoulder. “Good luck.”

Alina opened the door to her cabin smiling as she saw the dark haired man, she had come to love. “Pitch you’re here.” Glances at his hands that were filled two simple scarlet roses, “And you brought flowers.” She smiles. “How sweet.”

Pitch smiled genuinely chuckling softly. “Delivery for the pretty lady.”

Blue eyes brightened, “Well I must warn you delivery guy. I’m already taken by this amazing guy names Pitch.”

Laughing he wrapped his arms around her. “Oh is that so? Tell me about him..”

She tapped her chin in thought. “Hmm, well let’s see, he’s serious, but caring. Impossibly sweet and protective, he’s also the bravest man I’ve ever met.” Alina tapped his nose smiling at him, the playful tone in her voice staying “You remind me a lot of him”

“I have someone special of my own?”

Smiling she faked surprise. “No…Tell me about her.”

“She could beat me up if she wanted, she’s beautiful and the nicest person I’ve ever met, sometimes I wonder how in the world she made it into the army, until I see her in battle. I’m lucky to have her in my life; she’s someone that I want to spend the rest of eternity with…” Slowly he pulled away from their embrace getting on one knee.

Covering her mouth in shocked she gasped, “Pitch?”

He lifted a hand smiling. “Just…let me…let me finish...” He takes in a nervous breath as he continued. “In this darkness that has tried to claim our world, I sometimes find myself lost. Lost in the shadows all around, and just when I think everything is hopeless, as I’m about to succumb to the darkness, I see you. Alina, you are the light in this darkness, you help me through it.  You are the reason I continue on and fight it. You are my light. And I hope you don’t think me selfish for wanting…needing, you by my side, forever and always... I love you Alina.” His fingers fumbled for the small box in his jacket pocket but he pulls it out opening it, revealing the ring. “Will you marry me?”

Her hand slid down from her mouth, her eyes filled with tears, barely managing to get out audible words. “Yes. Yes Pitch I will marry you”

The two embraced, the General and his Light.

Too mushy gushy? Sorry. I was so evil with the cliffs in Flash of Gold I decided you needed somewhere nice to end off. Until next time my friends!
