Chapter 6: Snuffing out the Light

(Pitch's Lost Memories)

After two more years the Battle for the Golden Age had erupted slowly into chaos. The lead General of the Army had died in battle, bringing the army to confusion and chaos without a leader. But hope still shone through the darkness, the General had appointed Pitch as his successor, making him the General of the Golden Warriors.

"Are you sure about this Pitch?"

A happy chuckle found its way past his lips as he placed his hands on Alina's shoulders. "Why must everyone ask if I am sure?" She smiled up at him as he did.

"Because we are worried about you." She leaned up; balancing on her toes as she quickly pressed her lips to his. "Be safe"

"I will. I have been out to battle many times before this."

"I know. But the situation is different now. You're in charge and you now don't have to worry about just me" She kissed him once again. "You better come back to me... to us. Or I'll have to beat you up." She punched his shoulder playfully. "You know I can."

Pitch laughed. "You don't trust my leadership skills?"

"I do Pitch, that's the problem, you're self sacrificing. Just come back to us." she kissed him once more placing her hands on her growing belly, Pitch placing his over them, reluctantly leaving her and their soon to be born child.

...

"Come back her little butterfly"

Pitch smiled happily as he chased the little girl, who could be no more than five, with long black hair, dressed in a green dress. It had been months since a fearling attack and everyone was beginning to think all of the fear was over. Even Pitch was starting to believe it. And just as it goes, darkness comes at the brightest of times. He laughs continuing after the giggling child.

"Can't catch me Daddy!" the girl giggled running away from her dark haired father, squealing in delight as the man scooped her up in a burst of speed.

Pitch smiled. "Gotcha!" he began to tickle her, squeals of laughter emanating from the child.

"Daddy! Daddy stop! Daddy that tickles!" the young girl pondered through her giggling then smiled wider, her words coming out strained through laughter. "Please!"

"Oh you got me Seraphina!" The dark haired man chuckled setting Seraphina down.

"Come on you two" the loving voice of Alina rang out. Her heart filled with joy at the sight of her husband and child playing with each other. "Let's all e-" her voice stopped in terror as she looked to the sky, an ominous cloud of ebony was spreading quickly across the noon sky.

Pitch saw as well and quickly scooped Seraphina back into his arms, handing her to Alina. "get her inside quickly!" Running into the house she moves to Seraphina's room setting her on her bed, quickly moving about the room, picking up her sheath of knives from her drawers, unused for so long. "Mommy?" the quivering voice called out. "Mommy what's happening?"

"Nothing sweetheart, everything's gonna be just fine, just stay here okay?" she kissed her daughters forehead, worry in her voice quickly turning gentle "I love you." And with those words she exited the room closing the door behind her, sprinkling dreamsand, over the door of the room. Whispers to herself "You'll be okay now sweetie...I promise" Alina moved quickly going back outside finding her husband already fighting a dark figure. The thing, which was the only word to really describe it was a nightmare in and of itself. The dark image hissed through its fangs, its glowing yellow eyes focused on Pitch as it fought, bringing its claws on the end of its fingers against her husband's sword. It snarled turning to glare at her, and evil gleam in its eyes, before snapping back to Pitch, striking. A fearling.
