I woke up from my nightmare. Straight into a one. My mother and father are murdered, along with my boyfriend who I thought I could keep him safe from real monsters, for he was the one who protected me from my inner demons. The scars on my arms started to fade but now he's gone. I'm afraid new scars will appear. He knew what me and my family were, yet he still accepted me. He truly loved me. My mother and father were the only ones that understood my brother and mine's troubles of having these powers. All the animal and cruel instincts that show up that seem to scream, "Survival of the fittest," the fact that we can never fit in to any school properly, and how we couldn't be accepted if we were to tell anyone of that, with only one exception. I guess that doesn't quite matter now, does it?

I get up and start getting dressed and ready to get moving. We gotta leave soon. I put on my blank plain tank top and a red and black checkered flannel. I put on some jeans and get some sneakers on. My pale skin makes it seem like I'm never outside, but I always am. My golden eyes, some people say, are as bright as the Sun, and can keep someone's gaze. People have reason to be intimated by me, even if I am only 5' 4".
I looked down at my bracelet. My parents have it to me. I looked down at my bracelet and tears started forming in my eyes. I never took it off, the shiny silver chain making the sunlight seeping through my curtains bounce off. The 14 charms making a slight jingle when I move. Each one of them was meaningful. A small dream catcher, with two gold feather dangling from small bronze chains. The circle was made of bronze and the webbing inside was of silver. The ruby heart was from Austin. It has red flings from it, he had said that was a symbol of our love. He was a thoughtful guy, I'm glad I was able to be his...if only he hasn't gotten killed because of me. The next charm was from Farkus. It was a crescent moon. He made it himself during shop at school. It was made of iron, but it was amazing handiwork. The second he had also given me. It was a pawprint that was silver around the edges of what would be the padding of the print. Inside the silver was amythest. The fourth charm was a spider web, given to me by dad. The small strands of silver over lapping each other to make a beautiful web. The next my mother had given me, it was a small black widow. The black stone with the small hint of red for the thorax was well cut, the silver wire surrounding it, making the legs, also wrapped around the head to keep the whole thing together. The head was a small, shiny, black stone, which is the same material as the thorax. The fifth is of the Eiffel tower, the wires make it a fragile thing. The next charm was of a tree. It was a basic shaped trees, like the two triangles with a small rectangle you would draw in elementary school, made of sterling silver. The seventh charm is of a Hersheys kiss. The eighth is a lightening bolt of gold. The ninth is of the sun, the circle was made of gold, while the spikes that are supposed to be the rays of light were silver. The tenth is a leaf, my love of fall. The gold being the little veins, the silver being the actual leaf. The eleventh was a star, made of silver. The twelfth is a small book, about 5 centimeters in length, 3 in width. The outside was made of a jade gem. The thirteenth was a 3 centimeter pencil charm made of gold. The final one was an open clam made of silver, with a pearl inside of it.
The braclet had a lot of silver on it, but it was still beautiful. This teared me up because many of those were from my parents or boyfrind, for the exception of three from my brother. I looked away from it and wiped away my tears that I didn't realize had fallen, with the back of my sleeve. I got up from the edge of my bed. I walked the short distance from my bed to my door in two easy strides, wanting to leave this home and town soon. I walked across the hall to my parents bedroom. The queensized bed making it seem smaller than it actually is. I walked over to the vanity that took up the middle of one wall. I opened one door of the two doors that were there to access the cabinet inside. I rummaged around, pushing aside a couple boxes with my forearm. I finally found the glass mason jar. It has about one thousand dollars in it. This was what Farkus and I were going to use to travel to a different town.
I went into the kitchen and was met with the sight of my brother attempting to cook breakfast with his one hand. His wound was now halfway healed and as soon as I walked in he tensed up slightly, but quickly relaxed. He continued to try and flip the bacon with the fork he had. I quickly walk over to him and scootched him aside and continue making the breakfast. He had already managed to make twelve pancakes, thirteen small sausage patties, five pieces of toast, three bagels, and he had placed the carton of whip cream out, along with strawberries and syrup.
"So, why the banquet?" I ask as I finish the bacon and pile some food on a plate for him. I then grab another plate and place some of everything on it. "You gotta be starving from all that shifting last night. Plus, you ran 100 miles out of town. Sure, that's nothing when you're you, but with the shifting it burns more energy." He explains it all, even though I perfectly know all this. "Fair enough," I say. As I plop down in a seat beside him and grab the whip cream and syrup. I then start eating fast. He was right, I wa starving, but he probably was as well. Healing takes a lot of energy as well. I sense him watching me way. "Farkus, stop staring and eat." I say in between bites. I hear him start eating as I'm still hunched down over my plate, stuffing my face. After I finished up the last of my syrup soaked pancake, I got up and grabbed the car keys. I looked over at my brother. "You ready to say goodbye to this place?" I ask him. It's gonna be tough this time. We usually move a lot, but since I found a guy who accepted us we stayed for five years. Longer than anywhere else. He looked at me with a sad pain in his eyes, yet a smile on his face. It made my heart clench and I wanted to tell him to wipe off that smile, if he was sad he shouldn't act happy. "Yeah, let's get going." He answered.
With that I went through the living, grabbing my bag filled with a few clothes and books and personal belongings while walking past the hall, to the front door, and outside. My brother stayed right behind me the whole time. It was 4 in the morning and no one was up. Everyone would just think we mysteriously disappeared. As for Austin, my human boyfriend, no one would know. I went into our van and started it up. Farkus got into the passenger seat and we both threw our bags past our shoulders. After that we put our seatbelts on and I put the van in drive. It was parked parallel to the curb in front of the house. I then sped off and turned onto the highway when I was able to. Where we're going....we don't know. What we do know though, is that we need to find who had kidnapped everyone that I loved, but left me. I know that I won't stop, and I'm sure my brother won't either, until we find them.
