*Teagan's P.O.V*
The next day, I was in the shop with Leyla, trying to comfort Jacob after David couldn't make it to his football match.
"I'm sure he didn't mean to miss it, he probably just got stuck in traffic on the way back from the hotel or something." My stomach churned with guilt as I lied to him yet again.
"Yeah, you know he wouldn't miss it on purpose, he knows how important it was to you and he probably feels terrible about it." Leyla added. Just before Jacob had a chance to reply, the door flew open and a weak looking David staggered in.
"David!" Jacob's face lit up, while me and Leyla exchanged glances, anxious as to why he wasn't in bed, getting the rest he so desperately needed.
"Hey, Jakey, I'm so sorry I missed your match, mate." David profoundly apologised.
"It's okay, I'm just glad you're here now. What happened to you?" Jacob asked in concern, taking in David's feeble state.
"Ah, just did a bit too much in the hotel gym, y'know." David lied, a cheeky grin on his face. Jacob smiled back, buying his excuse.
"Tell you what, to make up for missing your game, how about we go to the cafe, then we can have a kick about, yeah?" David suggested.
"Yeah! I'll go get the ball." Jacob beamed, running off, leaving David to deal with me and Leyla.
"You should be in bed." I scolded the thirty-four year old.
"You really think you're well enough for a football game?!" Leyla added.
"I'll be fine, it's just a quick kick about, it's not like I'm competing in the Olympics, is it?" David protested. Me and Leyla soon gave up on trying to stop him, both of us knowing how stubborn he could be.
So, once Jacob came back with his football, and having changed into a footie shirt, we headed to the cafe. I didn't bother getting changed, as I was just fine in my cream lacy dress, dark denim jacket and black Converse.
We arrived at the cafe and got a quick drink, before going outside to play football. Jacob kicked it to David, but when David did a run-up and tried to kick it, he ended up on the floor, writhing around in pain.
"Dad!" Jacob yelled, kneeling down next to David, me copying his action. Luckily, Harriet was just exiting the cafe as it happened and she helped us get him to the hospital. Unfortunately, once David was back in his hospital bed, surrounded by me, Leyla, Eric, and Jacob sitting at the end of his bed, we had to come clean.
