Chapter 1: Complications

~Maya's POV~

Everyone knew I had strong feelings for Josh, whenever he walked into the Matthews house I would silently pray to Father Time that our age gap would seal. Riles would end up ending the never-ending tension by ejecting her usual light-hearted, playful banter into the conversation. I have never been quite sure if he liked me or not, the quick side glances he makes towards me, his suggestive tone when talking about certain ... topics. Was I just imagining it all? One thing I did know, though, was that this boy was my kryptonite.

~Josh's POV~

As I walked into my bro, Corey's , apartment, I was greeted by the fuzzy, reminiscent aroma of Topanga's famous Christmas fairy cakes. 'Uncle Joshhhh!!!' Auggie screeched. 'Auggieeeee' I chuckled. He was such a lovely kid. As he ran into my arms, I grabbed his waist and hoisted him into the air. 'WOOHOOOOOO' He screamed. A small chuckle escaped my lips. Suddenly, I caught sight of an angel. Her flowy, platinum hair curled from the draft coming through the living room window. I could feel my mouth gaping wide open as my cheeks burned heavily. 'Hey Josh' Maya soothed. 'U..um, Hi Gorg ... I mean Maya' I saved. 'What's the matter, cat got your tongue?' She sneered playfully. 'Come On Uncle Josh!' Auggie exhaled. 'Ok Auggie Doggie.' And with that, we were gone.
