Penny's P.O.V
When Jay gave me that puppy dog face I couldn't help but smile, she was just too sweet and whenever I look at her I couldn't help but think, why would someone with such a big heart, kind and caring person be treated the way she was. It made me so angry. But I was happy that Jessica was with us now.
I watched from the kitchen window as she ran for the forest then shifted into her wolf, she was truly magnificent.
I stayed in the kitchen cleaning, cooking and chatting to some of the pack members. Even though I was the Alpha of this pack I didn't care for people treating me as their superior, I saw us all as equals, and I made them treat as any other member of the pack. I sadly didn't have a mate by my side to help me out; it didn't bother me that much but usually a female wolf can feel a connection within herself. I however, couldn't feel anything, the only explanations that I can think of is that my mate died, or perhaps he died before I was born or when I was just a little pup. I was never sad about it though. Sure, I wanted someone to love me unconditionally and to always be by my side but then I think I've been given a gift. I've been given the gift to fall in love the old fashioned way, meeting a random stranger, and going on dates, being courted and eventually falling in love. The thought always made me smile. Sometimes I wished that it was like that for every wolf, so then people wouldn't get hurt so much from rejection like Jessica for example. I don't know why she changed her name, I always thought Jessica was a beautiful, but if it's what she wants then who am I to judge?
I was cleaning up after the kids as they had managed to get milk and left cookie crumbs everywhere when Josh one of the triplets ran in looking rather flustered.
"What's the matter Josh?"
He breathed heavily, "They're... pant...coming..."
"Oh for god sake just spit it out already!" I shouted frustrated.
"Rouges!" He shouted.
I sprung into Alpha mode ordering some women to take the kids to the basement to look after them, then ordering everyone else to form a protective barrier around the pack house.
"Has anyone seen Jay?" I asked.
I received shakes of the head and people murmuring no's. On the outside I looked calm but on the inside I was panicking. Where was she? I didn't have too long to ponder on that thought as streams of wolves burst out of the forest immediately attacking. I shifted into my red wolf and lead the charge to battle. All I could hear we snarls, teeth and claws hitting flesh and howls. There were some many of them. Where had all these rouges come from? Usually, we never hear a peep out of them. I still couldn't see Jessica anywhere and I was starting to get a bit anxious. She is one of my best warriors and we really did her about now.
I was busy tackling another rouge to the floor when a familiar wolf charge through the forest, Jessica. I ended the rouges life quickly then watched Jessica as she took on rouges with ease. I let out a sigh that I didn't realize I was holding, I was feeling better now that I knew she was here. I heard more sighs probably other wolves thankful that Jessica was now here. I continued to watch my pack as they charged at the rouges. I could see that they had all got a burst of energy from the appearance of Jessica, giving them hope. This made me return my gaze to Jessica. She stood tall, shoulders back with her head held high. Even though she wasn't of alpha blood she screamed power. This was why I had decided when it came for my time to stand down as alpha I would happily hand the pack over to her, I knew she'd be able to care for the pack and everyone loved her, it was a no brainer really. Before my very eyes I watched as she began to shake slightly and the air around her began to glimmer.
What was she doing? With the loudest roar that I have ever heard flames were flying everywhere and rouges were falling to the ground like flies. A roar like that you only hear from a lion or a large cat, I have never heard of a wolf roaring like that.
