Chapter 2: Draco
My father was briskly walking through the crowd. He was not a fan of mud bloods, let alone muggles. I followed behind him, making my own little holes, after his had closed. I was having a hard time keeping up because of the heavy trunk I was lugging behind me. My trunk was so heavy because of all the things my father had bought me the week before. I had everything that I would need for the school year and more.
We walked up to the brick pillar that he was telling me about. We stopped and looked at it for a moment. Then I realized that I was looking at this pillar, while he was looking around. He whipped around to whisper to me, "Follow me, quickly." He looked one last time on each side, then he disappeared as he stepped into the pillar. I didn't understand, but I had to follow directions and follow him, so I closed my eyes so tightly that I couldn't see and took a step forward.
When I opened my eyes, I was standing in another train station. Not the one like before, but similar. There was only one train. It was bright red with gold letters spelling "Hogwarts" on the front. I was taking in my surroundings, when I heard my father calling for me, "Draco! Get over here, now!" He wasn't happy with me, already. I hadn't done anything wrong, but that is the only thing that upsets me about my father. He always yells at me for anything. Sometimes, I think he yells just to yell. I wanted to stand there all day to upset him, but I knew what would happen if I did, so I followed him.
We were walking up to the train, when I remembered my mother. She couldn't make it because she was with her sister, my Aunt Bellatrix. Ever since I met my Aunt Bellatrix there has been something weird about her, but I have never been able to put my finger on it. She was always sweet to my mother and me and my father, sometimes. My mother was out with her, helping her buy things for her new house she is moving into. Her new house is big, but not as big as our mansion. We lived in the Malfoy Manner. It has been passed down generations, and now it was ours.
It was ten till 11:00 am, so we were early as always. My father turned to me, showing me all of his face, not just the side or the back of his head. "Draco, you must be good and do good. You are a Malfoy, aren't you?" I nodded my head. I knew that I wasn't supposed to talk when he is talking. He looked me square in the eyes and said, "I'm glad you understand that, so you will be getting into Slytherin. We talked about the houses, and you know your place, right?" I looked at the ground. I didn't know where I was going to be placed, but that didn't matter to my father. He wanted me to be in Slytherin at all costs, he didn't care what I wanted. This life wasn't mine; it was my father reliving his life. "Well?" His voice was stern. I nodded solemnly. I very much wanted to be in Slytherin, but if I was put into a different house, I couldn't help that. It wasn't my doing, but my father wouldn't understand. I had to be in Slytherin, no matter what.
I said goodbye to my father and slowly pulled my trunk over to the conductor, so he could put it on the train. I got onto the train and turned around for another glimpse of the train station. The conductor led me to the passengers' carriage. Then, he allowed me to take the front to pick my corridor. The carriage was long. It took a couple seconds to reach the end, from there, I picked the second to last one on the left side. It didn't matter much to me where I sat, but I didn't want to be close to the front.
I sat there for about a minute, until the door slide open and Goyle was standing in the doorway. A smile crept across his face. "Malfoy!" I stood up, smiling too and shook his hand. I would have hugged him, but my father didn't think much of hugging, especially for a man. I asked him the first thing that came to mind, "So, how was your summer?" He shrugged his shoulders and took a seat. "I guess alright. I didn't do much, but my father bought me lots of candy." I laughed at that comment. Goyle and Crabbe were always very big into candy, they couldn't stop eating it. "Sounds like lots of fun." I looked out the window, looking for my father, but I knew he already left. He doesn't really stay for things because he has better things to do. "How was your summer, Malfoy? How was Kimberly?" I smiled. Kimberly was my girlfriend, but I broke up with her. She wasn't bad looking and kind of nice, but we never really got along. She was to into every other guy that went to our school, so I broke up with her. I knew that I would be attending another school anyway, so I thought I might as well do it before she found out the hard way. "My summer was fine, but I'm not with Kimberly, anymore." I gave a slick smile, "She's not my type." Goyle burst out laughing. He couldn't contain himself. I laughed for a couple seconds, but Goyle couldn't stop. It was getting a little awkward, but then Crabbe made an appearance. I smiled at the sight of him. I was happy to see him and I was relieved to get out of that situation. I shook his hand and he took the seat next to Goyle. "So, Crabbe, what did you do all summer?" He looked out the window and waved to his mom. "I sat around, as usual." He didn't seem to care that he never did anything, so I tried not to care, either. We sat there in silence for a couple minutes, waiting for the train to go.
After about five minutes, the train moved. I rocked forward a little, but not enough to throw me off of the seat. We sat there for a while, until the candy cart came around. Since we are in the back, we were one of the last corridors to be served. I didn't get anything. I wasn't hungry, and I knew that I could eat a piece of Crabbe or Goyle's candy. The witch running the cart opened the door. "Does anyone want candy?" Crabbe and Goyle looked up at each other and jumped up. Then, it was a wrestling match. They were pushing and shoving to be the first one to the cart, but Goyle beat Crabbe to it because of his height. I was too busy laughing at them that the witch pushing the cart looked at me like I had three heads. I couldn't help it. I have known them for most of my life, and they have always been goofballs.
After they got their candy, I sat there in silence, watching them stuff their faces with all of the different kinds of candy they bought. I knew that after eating all the candy they bought that they would be sick, and I have a feeling they knew it too. They probably know from different experiences. They were sick on their stomachs about once a week, so I just sat there and watched them scarf down the candy. Then, I heard the sound of the door opening. I flipped around to see who it was, and a girl was standing in the doorway. She had light brown hair that fell just below her shoulders that was very wavy. Her eyes were a nice, soothing brown. She stood with fantastic posture. She was wearing light blue jeans with a purple sweatshirt that said, "Adidas," on the front. I called her in and told her to sit down. We talked for a few minutes, until she remembered that she was looking for something. She never mentioned what it was, but she seemed worried about it. She told me that she would talk to me later and left the corridor. She turned left when she stepped out, and she opened another corridor. She talked to the people next to us for a minute or so, but then she came back over and talked to me for a little longer. She finally told me what she was looking for, and even though I hadn't seen a toad, I promised to bring it to her if I found it. As she walked out, I grinned my biggest grin at her. She was cute, and maybe she could be a Slytherin like me. Maybe this relationship was meant to be.
