A soft breeze tugged at my hair that was still exposed and not hidden underneath the black hoodie that I was concealed by.
Glancing down, the trickling lights cascaded throughout the city where cars were still active even at this ungodly hour.
I breathed, expecting to see my breath coil in front of me, but instead the plain black mouth bandana I wore prevented that from happening. I shifted to get into a more comfortable position feeling the one leather shoulder pad on my right shoulder rub against the fabric of my clothing.
"How much longer" whined Scout from behind.
"Not much longer, as soon as the lights go out were good to go" I replied.
I averted my gaze from the streets and looked over at Scout, who was seated safely away from the ledge as he hated heights.
"Wuss" laughed Alaska from where she was perched next to me on the ledge.
Scout bared his teeth but didn't move and instead watched Alaska intently growling whenever she inched closer to him.
Shaking my head I went back to observing the streets. My eyes scanning the pathways and buildings. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed a man exit a massive bank, the lights swiftly going out before he locked the door and raced down the pathway.
Watching intently I made out the tiny figure of a mouse scurrying after him, as the mouse neared the man, it jumped its tiny teeth latching onto a key before it tugged and dropped onto the pavement and scurried off.
I waited a good five minutes on the ledge thinking about what I was going to do next.
"Hello, Hello, earth to Hazel" squeaked a tiny voice, blinking, I glanced around my eyes falling on a tiny mouse standing up on its hind paws with a key latched in between its teeth.
"Thanks Tinie" I said whilst carefully taking the key out of his tiny mouth. I reached into a tiny satchel that I kept on hand and dumped a whole cheese in front of Tinie. Smiling I watched as he devoured the whole thing in a split second before he raced off to God knows where.
"Ok let's do this" I smiled.
It took us about five minutes to get out of the building and across the road without anyone seeing us and just so you know I am a professional I do this all the time.
We stuck to the shadows of the huge bank as we scaled around the edge, keeping out of reach of unfriendly eyes.
Eventually we reached the back entrance where I inserted the key into the single door hearing a familiar melodic beep before I opened the door the slightest bit allowing a group of ants to pass through so that they could block the security camera's.
After what seemed like forever Alaska whispered "they are blocking the camera's now" whilst peeking through the crack her vision seeing much more than what mine could've.
"Ok Scout you guard the door, no one enters got it, Alaska you watch the front entrance and make sure no odd figures try and enter as well" I ordered watching them flee off into the darkness to watch the doors.
Turning back towards the door I pushed it forwards slightly avoiding pushing it too fast so that it didn't create a loud sound.
Once the crack was big enough I slipped through, sneaking down the hallway I pulled out two knifes resting one in each hand and gripping them firmly as I rounded each corner observing to make sure the ants were still covering the security camera's lenses.
It took me forever but I finally came to a bank vault where I believe the prize was being held. Slipping the two knifes into my pockets, I observed the vault door, finding its weaknesses and deciding how I could overcome it.
Thankfully the vault wasn't as innovative as most and didn't have very difficult alarms and antitheft devices to dismantle, plus the material was thinner and lighter which I could easily destroy.
Grabbing some tnt from my bag I arranged a small amount a significant distance from the vault door so that when it blew it wouldn't damage the possessions inside, but so that it would also destroy the building, hey what's the point in possessing tnt if you don't blow something up.
I rummaged through my bag and took out so matches, before pulling the bag straps back over my shoulders and bending forwards. I flicked the red end across the matchbox side creating a nice long mark and a small flame.
Leaning forwards I held the match out to the single thread joining the tnt together which would soon cause an explosion, I let the flames lick the end of the thread as they slowly created another small flame.
The small flame attached to the thread vigorously started travelling down the thread towards the tnt, retracting the match I blew it out and tossed it into the bin before sprinting behind one of the receptionist counters and peeking over watching the flame.
The flame had reached the other end now and was dancing around the tnt, ducking I covered my ears, hearing a huge explosion erupt behind me. Notifying me that the tnt had exploded.
Once I was certain that I was clear to go. I climbed up and jumped over the counter.
Nearing the vault I saw a massive hole where the door used to occupy, which now revealed thousands of dollar notes.
My mouth fell open and I literally stood there for two whole minutes just looking at the glory and beautiful money that lay before me.
Shaking it off, I came to the realization that someone would have heard that and will be coming to investigate very shortly so I better start working.
Entering the vault, I looked for the 100,000 dollar bills, finding them in the far left corner in a small pile, I quickly shoved them into a pocket of my bag which I zipped up very tightly before examining the rest of the vault.
There were lots of diamonds, jewels, pretty necklaces still left untouched so I stole a couple expensive diamonds and necklaces before heaving my heavy bag onto my shoulders and escaping the area.
It took a few minutes to reach the exit following my previous tracks still observing security camera's to make sure the ants were still there, when I reached the end of the corridor though I gave a thumbs up and the ants trickled away from the lenses following me towards the exit.
Reaching the back exit I wrenched the door open and called out to Scout to notify him that the job was complete before walking past the front entrance and motioning to Alaska to meet up at the arranged meeting area.
Scout and I walked a couple blocks, before reaching a deserted white Hilux parked on the corner. Pulling a set of keys out of my pocket, a clicked a button seeing the front and rear lights light up.
I opened the back door first allowing Scout to climb into and Alaska who skidded around the corner and lept into the opening mid sprint, before I closed the door. I climbed into the driver's seat noticing that Alaska had jumped into the passenger seat as she always did.
I turned on the gas and joined the traffic ripping off my mask, hoodie and leather gear to reveal normal clothes.
"So you got the money" questioned Scout from the back seat.
"Yup, its really good" I replied whilst dumping the bag into the back seat with Scout.
I watched the rearview mirror as Scout used his teeth to pull the zipper around and his snout to shove open the pocket. Smirking I watched him and Alaska's eyes light up at the mound of money.
