I moaned as my phone rang, loud and clear by my head. I pulled the covers higher and the pillow tighter to drown out the consistent music playing. Finally I gave up, reaching for it and pressing it to my ear.
"Hello?"
"Good morning sleepy, time for skating." A way too cheery voice replied.
"I'd rather you shoot me." I said.
"I'd prefer not to, don't make me drag you here."
Then the line went dead.
I laid in bed, weighing my options. I lazily sulked out of bed, pulling on a pair of sweat pants and a tighter fitting sweater, grabbing all my hockey gear and hauling it out to my Jeep.
--
I knocked on the door first, then yelled earning many responses before walking into the locker room. I dropped my bag before slouching into a chair.
"Good morning." Brayden smiled.
"I hate you, I was sleeping." I told him.
"Not a morning person I see." He mumbled.
"Full gear?" I asked.
He nodded, sticking out his tongue.
I unzipped my bag, shaking all my gear free before pulling off my sweater and replacing it with a sports bra. All eyes stared as I changed, finally bending to tie my skates.
"Boo." I whispered, braiding my hair and grabbing my helmet.
--
A defensive drill had been set in place and I shifted wearily on my skates, playing with my mouth guard.
"Tash, go first." Brayden nodded.
I rolled my eyes, snapping my helmet in place and starting the drill. It was simple and I dodged the guys, easily scoring with the flick of my wrist.
"Ok then." Luke said, skating in a circle.
"Your turn." I smirked.
He came at me, clearly holding back. Being the bitch that I am I followed him, using my shoulder to push him off balance and send him tumbling to the ice.
"Wanna try for real this time?" I asked.
--
Showered, and refreshed I pulled on my normal clothes, tucking my phone in my pocket and heading for the door.
"Where are you going?" Luke asked, his blue eyes following me.
"I was just gonna go home and unpack." I replied.
"Need help?" Adam asked.
"Sure, you can carry all the heavy stuff." I laughed.
--
Downstairs and the kitchen had all been unpacked, all that was left was my room divided up into three sections. I handed over boxes and ripped them open, putting clothes on shelves and others in drawers. Soon enough everything but two boxes were finished.
"You missed a few." Luke said from the door.
"I'll do those ones later." I replied, kicking them to the corner of the room.
"What's next?" Adam asked.
"Groceries." I laughed.
"Off to the store we go." Luke said, tossing me over his shoulder.
--
Adam had a buggy and Luke kept throwing random items of food inside, pulling me along behind him.
"Luke! None of this is healthy." I complained.
"Naw, but it tastes good." He replied.
I grabbed my own buggy and went around the store again, vegetables, fruits and of course some candy made it in, plus it wasn't over flowing.
"Tash, you have to get these!" Adam smiled, throwing in Sour Patch Kids.
"Oh god." I laughed.
--
I flopped on the couch, everything was done and put away. Both guys had left to get ready and I dragged myself upstairs to change, the usual jeans and jersey being my outfit of choice as I descended the stairs.
A quick look in the mirror told me to wear a hat, I placed one backwards and flipped the keys on my finger, locking the door behind me and heading to the arena.
--
The boys were down 3-2 with five minutes on the clock, my nervousness catching up with me as I swallowed hard and gripped my seat with both hands.
The crowd screamed as Tye shot and got it in, the buzzer sounding meaning overtime and no room for error.
Luke had it, racing up the ice and deaking out two guys, flicking his wrist the sound of the buzzer and my pounding heart I jumped up and threw my hands in the air.
--
"Holy shit you did it!" I laughed, tossing my body weight into Luke's arms. "Ugh, I'll give you another hug after you shower."
He laughed, ruffling my hair and then taking off his gear and disappearing the shower starting seconds later.
"Way to go Tye." I smiled, giving him a high five and collapsing in a chair.
--
"Ok do I get that hug now?" Luke asked, a smile tugging his lips.
"I don't know, do you?" I taunted, leaning against the wall.
He crossed the diatance, his arms encircling my waist and picking me up off my feet. I laughed, burying my head in his shoulder and wrapping my arms around his neck.
"I'll take that as a yes." He whispered in my ear, hills chasing themselves down my spine.
