Allie
Dario and I walked to the entrance of the park and took a right. It was 4:45 and nobody was tired. I could feel the excitement of freedom as Dario and I walked to the golf course near Eagle Park. When I was really little, about 4 years old, and my parents had just started leaving me alone, I would often visit the golf course to pass time. I watched hundreds of golfers set out on the green grass with their golf clubs every day. I knew the golf course like the back of my hand.
The group had agreed to meet in the golf cart garage that I had pointed out a week ago. When I was little, I could easily hide behind golf carts in there and nobody would see me. While we were at the golf course a week ago, and I had crawled in the garage to see where we might hide, I hadn’t seen any security cameras, and it would still be easy for us to hide behind the golf carts. However, we would have to leave around 5:30 because that was when the manager came in and started opening the course up.
Dario started for the garage when I pulled him over to the fake grass.
“I want Lizzie to see us when she arrives. I don’t know if she remembers where the garage was. Plus, it’s a bit crowded in there, and I don’t want to knock anything over. It was easier to hide in there when I was 4 years old and it was light outside,” I explained. Dario nodded.
We both sat down on the plastic grass, not daring to say a word, just in case there was somebody there.
