(Hello there, I've got a nice long one for you this time. I've been wanting to write this one for a while now. I'm only doing one part that's why I've made it so long. Hope you enjoy it!)

"Levi, I would like you to survey one of the cadets' training sessions to make sure they're coping with the new 3dmg manoeuvres. Can you handle that?" Erwin asked the other man who stood in front of his desk looking bored as usual.
"They're cadets, of course I can." Levi rolled his eyes.
"Very well, report back to me with the results. Oh and take Mike with you, so you don't intimidate all of the kids." Erwin smiled going back to his work as Levi turned and left.

Levi, Mike, the drill sergeant who was handling the cadets and the cadets themselves were all walking to the 3dmg forest. The forest was perfect for practising new manoeuvres, it was thick in the middle but not so dense that it would become dangerous and thinner around the edges which was perfect for practising easier manoeuvres. They could hide the wooden titans in many different places, some were easy to spot, others seemed to almost jump out at cadets of they weren't careful. It was perfect.

Levi placed himself low down on a tree directly behind one of the wooden titans. He was safe because the manoeuvre they were practicing required them to make the kill and then shot their anchors into a higher place causing them to go up and away from the fallen titan. It could be useful in many situations, they could use it to escape near by titans or even quickly attack another titan before it can figure out what's happening.
Levi stood - his feet planted firmly on the trunk of the tree and his anchors keeping him for falling - watching the cadets make their exits.

One by one they took their turn, some were very good and others - in Levi's opinion - were terrible but nothing that couldn't be fixed. They were almost done, only a few more cadets remained when one of the more cocky cadets got ready to go. Levi watched him make a show of walking into postion to start, winking at a huddle of girls as he took off. Levi noticed his entry was a little off and then as he came to strike Levi's eyes went wide. He was going to hit too high up and hit wood. Levi moved up the tree to warn him to pull out of the strike, but the blade had already hit the wooden titan causing the metal to snap and come straight for Levi. It stuck him right across his eyes before falling to the floor. He slipped when he was hit, falling and colliding with the tree causing his anchors to loosen from the bark. Levi hit the floor with an unforgiving thud. There were shouts from the cadets and Mike that he didn't hear because his mind had already been covered in a blanket of cold darkness.

Levi opened his eyes to darkness, he looked around trying to find some kind of light but found nothing. Slowly he brought his hand to his face to investigate the problem but another hand stopped his. Instinctively he fought it but the owner of it spoke. "Levi, you can't disturb your bandages. That blade caused quite a nasty cut." That voice...
"Erwin?" Levi's voice was thick and rough from the lack of use.
"I'm here." He replied placing Levi's hand back on the bed but not removing his own from on top of it. "You've been in the medical wing since yesterday. Here have some water." Erwin gently touched the glass to Levi's lip, inviting him to drink from it. Levi lent forwards and drained half the glass before sitting back. "What's the damage then?" Levi asked after wiping his mouth on the back of his hand.
Erwin sighed heavily, "I'm not going to dance around this, Levi. The medics... they don't think there's much chance for your eyes to recover." Erwin watched Levi visibly freeze at his words. "They aren't completely sure because they couldn't control the blood but looking at how deep the blade cut through the bridge of your nose they're fairly certain it's not good."
"Anything else?" Levi said through gritted teeth.
"No, bruises all over but no breaks."
"Okay, now leave." Levi curled onto his side away from Erwin's voice and covered his head with the blankets. "I want to be alone." Erwin left without another word knowing Levi needed time to think.
