When Mrs. Bukoski was four years old, her mother died. Ten years later, one night when she was in bed, she felt she wasn't alone. A little alarmed, she looked over her shoulder and saw the darkest thing she ever saw. It was darker than the nights darkness. She was really scared now. But then, with a shaking feeling, she wiggled her toes and the thing vanished.
The next day, Mrs. Bukoski had a spiritual feeling that she had to light a candle for her mother at a church, so she did.
The next time the ghost came was on a cool night when Mrs. Bukoski was in college. She was sound asleep in her dorm when she woke up to the feeling that she wasn't alone. She looked at one side of the bed and then the other, and saw the dark figure that she saw many years ago. She squeezed her toes. And it was gone. The next day she went to her mothers grave and put flowers there. The ghost never came again. But maybe....
