The small boy had Sandy hair, with calm gray eyes. He walked towards me, and held out a hand. I took it, realizing he wasn't much smaller than me. "Max." He whispered shyly. "Ella." I whispered back, staring into the eyes that would haunt me forever. He looked so much like Darren, I couldn't help but assume he was a psychotic murderer just like that man standing a few feet away. "Ella. Let's go." Jane said. I turned away from him, my hair sliding on my back as I walked.
Max Fowl's POV
My father rests a hand on my shoulder, and I look into the cold gray eyes of Darren Fowl. I looked at my arm, the spot that healed ever so slightly since that bear had attacked. I wince as I jerk it to the side, realizing that I had only died a year ago. I was still fresh.
Jane's POV
I pulled Ella away from that psychopath and his son. "Theyre bad news. Stay away from them." I growled at Ella. She jumped as I pinned her against the wall, not something that I would usually do. The prank my brother had pulled on me haunts me forever, and it was as if she reminded me of him. It's because she does. I put my arm down as she slumps to the floor, and I notice that she's a lot shorter than I am. I sit down on the couch of my house in this odd world, and she starts asking questions. "Is this the other world? Beyond the living?" She asked. "This is just a gateway. The fresh ones live here. Although, I'm not fresh. I'm a guard, and I have to make sure that everybody who crosses over is a dead person." I informed, tracing my finger along a small scar on my cheek. I jumped as she grabbed my hand, and put her head on my shoulder. "I'm scared." She whispered, tears rolling down her cheeks and into my body. "Dont be." I said softly, not wanting to scare her more.
