Chapter One: Welcome to Skywest Academy
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
"Akira! Breakfast is ready!" The muffled voice of Aunt Chiyoko echoed from downstairs. With heavy hands, I rubbed my eyes fighting the urge to go back to sleep. But before I could move any other part of my body, there came a knock on my door.
"Akira, didn't you tell us to wake you up half an hour earlier than usual?"
After hearing those words from my Uncle Rei who was standing outside my room, I bolted straight out of bed. He was right. I did ask them to do that for me, and the reason for that is because today's the first day of school. Now, don't get me wrong. I don't usually get excited for school and I'm not entirely a morning person, but this time it's going to be different.
After groggily doing my typical morning routine, I walked towards my medium-sized wardrobe and took out the only thing my eyes concentrated on. It was the school uniform of Skywest Academy. Butterflies fluttered around my stomach as I buttoned in the white blouse with its signature teal-colored ribbon. The dark grey skirt also had a matching teal-colored belt which I thought was pretty cool, in a cute way. Does that even make sense?
Breakfast went down in a flash. I couldn't eat that much because of the excitement that was bubbling inside my body. With that, I rushed back up the stairs to my room to get my bag and the final touch to my uniform. Skywest Academy's cream-colored blazer. I chucked the bento Aunt Chiyoko prepared for me in my bag, then bid my guardians goodbye. In return, they wished me the best of luck.
Maybe I did need some luck. After all, things are going to be different now. Skywest Academy has a reputation of having only the best of the best. Especially now that they are offering services for girls as well. A lot will be expected from us new students and from me, after their two years of successfully catering the needs of the top female students who got to study there. Now, this is going to be the year in which I prove my worth and make my parents proud.
I remember a story my father told me a few years back about the school I'm about to study in. He told me that it was tradition for his family to send all the sons to Skywest Academy, and that when he and mom were still dating, they promised to put their child in Skywest Academy too. But the thing is, they were never able to bare a son and instead, I was brought into this world. Me, Shinohara Akira, their only heir. Mom and dad have both worked hard to raise me and put me in good schools, and now that Skywest Academy has accepted me, I will prove to my parents that their hard work will not go to waste and I will make them proud!
After a train ride and a ten-minute walk from the station, I finally arrived at the gates of the great Skywest Academy with some time to spare. I take time to breathe in the fresh air which carried the strong scent of pine... and musk? I look up at the huge clock that was displayed on the façade of the school building and estimated the time before the opening ceremony.
"I still have about fifteen minutes, tops." I relaxed at the thought, unaware that I was already getting very tense. I made my way around the school grounds when suddenly-
"Give that back you jerk!" I hear the voice of somebody in distress from somewhere close by. I went to where the sound came from and there I saw by the courtyard with a fountain in the center, a young boy being pushed back and forth by an older student who had a smug look on his face.
"Hey!" I shouted at the bully. "He's going to get badly bruised before classes even start!"
The bully turned around and glared at me as he pushed away his poor victim. Thank goodness the younger student fled with only very minor injuries.
"Why don't you pick on someone your own size, huhh?"
"You." He snarled as he stomped closer to me with his hair swishing from side to side. The next thing I knew, I was pinned to the nearest pillar in the courtyard. "No one tells me what to do. Got it?"
His face was unbelievably very close to mine. One wrong move and my lips would be touching his lips. What did I just bring myself into? I should've acted more sensibly. His eyes were locked onto mine and it was as if he was checking me out or something.
Gross.
How long was he going to stay like this? I could already feel the beads of sweat forming by the sides of my forehead. But since I'm already in this mess, might as well play this game of his.
His eyes were a strong color of grey with a slight hint of blue. He was a lot taller than me too and in all honesty, he was actually pretty good looking. But if only his attitude could match his appearance-
"You're new here, aren't you?" he asked as a scent of peppermint from his mouth entered my nose. "You don't look like any of the girls I've dated here in school."
I was taken aback by what he said but despite that, I did answer his question.
"Well then, accept this as a gift from me to you. Welcome to Skywest Academy!" He leaned close to me and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I was absolutely shocked with what he did and the only reaction I could give him was a violent slap in the face.

Well that was short! Don't worry though, I'm doing short chapters for this book on purpose. I do hope you liked this one!
UPDATE: I've decided to kick out the weeaboo cringe-fest. It was difficult for me to keep up with it.
