Lunch

Alice scanned the canteen. All of the tables seemed occupied. It was a full house.

"Can we leave for lunch?" she asked Isabel.

"Well, if you need to, yes," Isabel replied.

She realised she wasn't stammering. That was a good sign. A very good sign.

Alice thought it through. If she were to leave the school for lunch, she'd have more choices to eat. But she didn't know the place well enough to know which restaurants were good and which were not.

Then she made up her mind, "Why don't we go for a stroll?"

"Sure!" Isabel replied hastily.

Meanwhile

Nooroo was feeling uneasy. She sensed three Miraculouses in Paris, three Miraculouses that she had never sensed before.

She debated whether to reveal her uneasiness to her master. She wanted to be a good kwami, but at the same time, she also wanted to do what was right.

Nooroo let out a resigned sigh. If only Tikki, Plagg and Wayzz were there. They would know what to do.

"I'm sorry, guys," she whispered before leaving her hiding spot and sneaking out to find her master.

"Paris truly is beautiful," Alice sighed as she munched heartily on her macaroon. Isabel and Alice stood before the Eiffel Tower, admiring it's complexity and beauty.

"How long have you stayed here?" Alice asked, hoping to know her new friend better.

"Well I'm a local so...I've been living here for my entire life. I haven't gone for any trips since the day I was born, but my parents did. They left me with the babysitter," Isabel recalled.

Sasha put on her headphones, playing her favourite song, Sweet Dreams.

Sweet dreams are made of this

Who am I to disagree?

I travel the world, and the seven seas

Everybody's looking for something

She strolled out of the school and bought a sandwich from the nearby bakery.

Some of them want to use you

Some of them want to get used by you

She walked to the Ladybug and Chat Noir memorial statue, one of the many anyway, and sat down on the bench in front of it.

Some of them want to abuse you

Some of them want to be abused

Sasha tore off a bit of her sandwich and sneaked it inside her bag. Closing her eyes, she leaned her head back against the cool stone of the statue. She had a dreadful feeling that this was only the calm before the storm.

The next song on her playlist began.

Like an astronaut that's scared of heights

With a heart that's beating at the speed of light

You've been waiting for this feeling all your life

Sometimes it's just hard to realise

Sasha's eyes flew open when her alarm rather rudely interrupted her music. Her expression never changing, she balled up the sandwich wrapper and tossed it into a nearby bin. Her music still playing, she began the walk back to the school.

Alice listened intently, not wanting to be labeled as a bad friend.

"We could tour the world after finishing our education," she offered. "Frankly though, I'd like to be a detective, solving all the cases no one can crack."

She sighed, knowing that no matter how hard she wanted it to happen, no matter how hard she dreamt, she could never become a detective. Her parents were simply too strict when it came to her future. Alice had always told herself that they did it for her own good, but nowadays, her parents seemed more concerned for themselves.

"One day you might become the next Sherlock!" Isabel giggled.

What a nice dream Alice has, she thought.

Alice shook her head at the notion of being the next Sherlock Holmes.

"Forget it," she mumbled, turning her head instead to the large mansion sitting adjacent to the tower.

"And that's the house of Gabriel Agreste. His son went missing a few years back," Isabel said, continuing with the tour, and pointed at the house.

"He must be distraught," Alice spoke with a sympathetic voice. "I wonder why he disappeared."

Maybe it's the exact same reason Sarah left.

She shook her head, banishing the thought from her mind.

"He was a good son - Mr Agreste's only son, in fact. And he went to the same school we went to. He was also a model for his Dad's company," Isabel explained.

Alice's face fell. It sounded so familiar. If only...

No, we've moved past that.

She whipped around and started walking.

"Let's go back, lessons will resume soon," Alice said.

Meanwhile

Hawkmoth furrowed his eyebrows.

New Miraculouses? Or are Ladybug and Chat Noir back? he mused.

Whatever it was, he was determined to destroy anyone in his way. And right about now was perfect. He could sense the negativity blooming in someone's heart.

"Nooroo, don't you think the garden of roses lacks butterflies?"

This was Nooroo's cue. She bowed her head submissively before morphing into a purple swirl of energy being sucked into the butterfly brooch.

Blue light illuminated the dark room, giving it a grim, yet mysterious look. From the darkness, white butterflies spread their wings. They fluttered around the room, furthering the ethereal effect.

Hawkmoth reached out the snatched a stray butterfly that wandered near him. A dark purple aura surrounded the butterfly as it turned into something vile.

An akuma.

Hawkmoth let out a maniacal laugh.

"Spread your wings, my little akuma, and fill their minds with hatred!"
