When I went to meet the older couple, they smiled and shook my hand.

"Hello dear, we are so excited to be able to bring you with us to our home." Layla East beamed towards me as she jumped up and down in excitement. In return I gave her a smile and nodded in thanks.

Before the Easts would think I was rude, Lisa (the secretary) said, " Sorry is not talking due to the ongoing shock. We are not sure when she will start to talk again, or if she ever will. In the mean time we have enrolled Ellie in a sign language class at the local school. If you would like we can enroll you in the class, so you can engage in a conversation with Ellie. As of right now Ellie has been writing on a whiteboard or paper to be able to 'talk'."

Layla and John both nodded eagerly and replied yes to the offer. After the conversation with the secretary I received a whiteboard and marker from Layla. Layla and John then escourted me to their vehicle. The vehicle was a large truck with a very spacious back seat. On the way to my new home in Wisconsin I listened to music and read a book. I soon fell asleep.

-----

As I was dreaming, I could feel myself being shaken awake. Soon I could hear voices saying, " Wake up Ellie." As I awoke everything that has recently happened crashed down onto my thoughts. I remember the crash, I remember not talking, and most recently I remember the new life I was supposed to begin.

When my eyes opened, I saw an old farm house on a large piece of land in the woods. I heard a dog barking and then I saw a little basset-hound running to the vehicle. Soon Layla said, " Welcome to your new home Ellie. Meet your new puppy. We thought getting you her would make the transition alittle easier on you. You are welcome to name her anything you like."

Soon the puppy came and jumped on my lap. She began to give me kisses and lick me all over. This puppy's excitement made me feel happy for the first time in a awhile. I smiled down at the puppy as she settled down and fell asleep on my lap. I then wrote on my whiteboard, 'Thank you so much! She is perfect and adorable. Is it alright if I name her Maggie?' Layla and John smiled and nodded very quickly. They then gave me a tour of the house and showed me my room. My room was painted a mint green and silver. The room had a large bed in the center and another smaller and similar bed to mine, which I assumed was for Maggie. After looking around the house, I went and fell asleep with my puppy next to me.
