"What can I get for you?" the bartender asked as I sat on the stool in front of him. "A light beer." The bar was packed, as it always is on a Friday night, and I wasn't sure why I had come again. The bartender sat the drink down in front of me. Giving him a smile, I placed a few dollars down on the table and took a sip. light, definitely. The music was blasting, everyone on the dance floor obviously dancing and grinding on each other. Not really my forte.

Almost as if on cue, a low voice chimed in my ear "wanna dance?" I looked up at him. He was tall, and somewhat buff, his hair a light shade of brown. Cute - you know, if I was interested in men. I gave him a kind smile as well and held up my drink, shaking my head and taking a sip before speaking over the music "I think I'm okay here, thanks" I didn't want to sound rude, but I wasn't going to force me and my two left feet to dance either. "Oh come on," he gave me a crooked grin, placing his hand on my back "just for a little bit." I arched my back away from his hand, my eyebrows furrowing in obvious displeasure. "No" I stated simply before standing from my chair, my height not even reaching to his shoulders.
He opened his mouth to say something again as he reached for me before I cut him off, my hand grabbing his wrist out of reflex before my mind could even process what I was doing. I gave it a threatening squeeze, looking him dead in the eye. "I'm okay, thanks." I stated, a little more stern this time. He seemed to have gotten the message as he pulled his hand out of my grip, nodded and walked away.
It was a little hard for me to not come off as rude sometimes, being a low level demon and all. Especially in a situation like that, it's almost like I can't control myself. I could've broken his wrist if I really wanted to. But over the years, I've learned to deal with it, and control it. I want to be a good, and kind person.

I made my way through the crowd of people and out the front doors, the fresh air immediately engulfing me. I took a deep breath and began to relax, taking a look at my surroundings. It's pretty empty outside, apart from a few cars, and a small group of people talking and smoking. I began to walk down the street, continuing to sip off my beer. It's nice to walk at night, I almost don't know why I didn't just do this instead.

I dont know how long I had been walking until a foul smell hit me. the streets were completely empty, and by now most of the stores were closed, the only thing lighting the streets being the street lights. there were a few alleyways, and there must've been a dumpster in one of them too because my god, that smell was terrible. I glanced around once more before hearing something hit the pavement.

"hello?" i called out, goosebumps rising on my skin. A faint, familiar voice replied, "over here" and it sounded like it must've come from the alley. "hello?" the voice continued softly after a few seconds, and it sounded a lot like mine.
"what the fuck" I whispered to myself under my breath, as I let my curiosity get the best of me and stepped toward the alley that was the closest. it looked to be empty though. I began to walk slowly, mentally preparing to be able to defend myself in case it came down to that. which shouldn't be a problem, unless - i stopped in my tracks, fear flashing throughout me- what if its a hunter? I'd be dead for sure. No denying it, I know I wouldn't be able to defend myself against a hunter.

beginning to backtrack, I kept my eyes on the alley, unsure of what to expect as I felt someone grab my arm, almost causing me to jump out of my skin. I turned, immediately grabbing whoever it was by the neck and pushing them against the wall before I could even get a look at who it was.

It was a girl, and she was somewhat small. she had short bangs that hung just above her eyebrows, and hair that was half a purplish white color and half black, and teeth that stood out in many different directions, looking more like nails than teeth.
a crocotta.. thats why i heard my voice. crocottas are capable of mimicking someones voice, using it to lure someone in, like me apparently, and feed off them.
but she must've been weak, and exhausted because she didn't even try to fight me back, which was unusual for a crocotta. her sharp jagged teeth began to disappear and be replaced with human teeth, hers having a small gap between the front two. cute. she pulled me from my thoughts as she tightened her grip on my wrist with strength that showed she could've fought back if she wanted to. I don't know why she didn't.
she rasped out an "I'm sorry," and gave in, her body going limp against the wall as she tried to push my hand away from her neck. "try anything, and I will kill you" I warned, my eyes flashing black. she nodded, and I let go of her. She struggled a breath and looked up at me, her fingers rubbing her neck where I had grabbed her, a light bruise already appearing on her pale skin.

Guilt started to set in as I looked at her, her big brown eyes only making me feel worse. I still wasn't too aware of the strength I had. "I'm sorry," I said, the guilt almost audible in my voice. She shook her head again, dropping her hand to her side as she gripped onto her skirt "it's alright, I understand," she spoke in a soft voice, trailing off, "sorry I attacked you, I didn't know you were, uh-" a demon. I nodded, so she knew I understood. "Why would you attack me anyway? I mean, you sure didn't seem to put up a fight." She shrugged, a light blush appearing on her cheeks. "Its complicated" she bit her lip, her face twisting a bit in thought, seeming to be looking for an explanation herself. We'll focus on that later.

"I'm Hannah." She looked up at me and tilted her head to the side a little bit before lifting her hand to shake mine "Melanie." I shook her hand, grinning a little bit in reassurance.
"Nice.. Hey, do you want to go by and see if a coffee shop is open or something?" I asked, in hopes to maybe get to know her better or something. I mean, she seems harmless, delicate even, and its not everyday for me to meet someone like myself. a smile found her lips, the blush on her cheeks darkening a bit as she nodded once again. she must be shy.

I couldn't seem to get rid of the grin that was already on my face as I turned and began walking down the street again, Melanie catching up beside me and keeping my pace as we walked down the street together. Her boots thudded against the ground with each step she took, her hand continuing to grip her skirt, and her eyes stayed either on the ground or on the shops around us. She seemed to be a bit nervous, but I don't blame her. I mean, I only tried to kill her.

We walked in silence to the coffee shop, where I planed to actually make a conversation with her. I don't entirely know why, but I felt the need to at least befriend her. I could use a few friends anyway, and someone who was like me on some level? that's just a bonus.
