**Emily Miller's POV**

"Emily Annabelle Miller! Get down here this instant we're leaving for Cape Cod in half an hour!" My mom yelled up the stairs.
I groaned and rolled over to see the late June sun shining bright through my window. My phone said 6:00 AM. Too early for the summer, I thought. I stood up and stretched, then picked out some short jean shorts and a pink crop top. I threw on some flip flops and put my hair up in a ponytail, decided on not wearing make up today and bounded down the stairs to the kitchen. As soon as I got down the stairs, the smell of burnt toast filled my nose. I groaned.
"Mom! You burnt the toast again!" I yelled.
"Sorry honey! Just put some butter on it and hop in the car, the bags are already packed." She apologized.
Since we were leaving so early my mom and I had packed last night. I grabbed my toast and hopped in the car, my mom locked the door and followed behind me with Daisy, our golden retriever puppy.
I should probably introduce myself now, my name's Emily Miller, but you can call me Em. I'm 17 years old, about to go into senior year and I live with just my mom. As we continued to drive, I texted my friends, who I will now introduce to you also. Casey and Marissa Rogers are twins and my absolute best friends (we are super close like sisters), Elizabeth "Liz" White (who is my other close girl friend), Brad Smith, Sam Wise, and Andy Bailey. We have a group chat that we always talk on. We are a pretty tight group if I do say so myself.
I sent a quick text to them and said, "Ugh, I can't believe I have to spend this 2 1/2 hour car ride with my mom.... the fun begins! 🙄"
After a few texts from my friends who were laughing at me and after a total of 2 1/2 hours of listening to my mom's terrible music, we got to the cottage.
Like I mentioned earlier I only live with my mom, my dad left us 6 years ago, so he left us when I was eleven. It was a bit hard at first considering the fact he cheated on my mom and now she is too scared to date anymore, but my mom is a doctor so we're pretty well off now. My friends are also on the wealthier side, so I guess that could be considered a plus but that doesn't really matter to me.
But back to the subject at hand. We climbed out of the car and grabbed our bags and Daisy to bring inside our nice cottage, that we tend to come to for at least 2 weeks every summer.
"Ok hon, go pick out the room you want, there are two master bedrooms, so we can each have one." My mom informed me, and I traveled up the stairs with Daisy to figure out which room I would like to reside in for 2 weeks.
I chose the light blue room and the other one, which would be my moms, was a super light yellow. Since we were staying for the next two weeks I decided on unpacking all of my clothes into the big, spacious closet. I turned on my a/c and flopped on my bed with Daisy.
A few minutes later my mom hollered, "Emily?!? Pepperoni pizza or cheese?"
  "Pepperoni! Please!!" I yelled back.
Pizza is definitely my absolute favorite food and I can't just turn it down. Next door, I heard someone drive in the driveway. In our little neighborhood you could see all the cottages next door to each other on this small street. This year there are going to be different people vacationing next to us, but I have no idea know who, but I sure would like to know! Me, being my curious self, I peered out the window to take a look. And I looked just in time to see an absolutely GORGEOUS teenage guy step out of his car who looked to be about my age, along with his mother who looked very stressed and a little girl who was balanced on her hip. I instantly wondered where his father was, but I probably shouldn't be so invasive.... yet.
I am one lucky girl, I thought to myself.
"Mom! I'm going to go meet the people who will be living next door! Do you wanna come?" I asked her as I slipped my flip flops back on and got Daisy's leash.
"No sweetie, I wanna do some things around here! See you in a bit!"
As I was walking out the door, I decided I wanted to add some of my makeup to my face, just a little bit of foundation and a couple swipes of mascara. Finally I headed out the door and took the small walk to the cottage this family would be staying at. I rang their doorbell and waited patiently with Daisy for someone to answer the door. About 30 seconds later, a tall boy with no shirt on,  beautiful abs, and piercing blue eyes was standing right in front of me, with an annoyed and tired look on his face. He saw Daisy and patted her on the head then looked back at me.
Then, he smirked to himself. In return I felt my eyes widen at his defined chest and abs and then heard his deep voice say, "I know I'm hot but my eyes are up here sweetheart."
