~ Drake & Nicki ~
Nicki
"Happy Birthday King!" Everyone cheered. "Make a wish baby" I whispered in his ear before he blew out the 4 candles on his batman cake.
He closed his eyes and mumbled something no one could understand for about 30 seconds until he opened them and blew out his candles.
"Yay!!" We clapped. "What did you wish for King?" My mom asked hoping for an answer but he shook his head and told her he couldn't tell her or else it wouldn't come true.
"Alright baby go eat this while I cut the rest okay" I handed him the plate that held the first slice of cake on it.
"Mom this is kinda messy and there's bugs out here so I'ma take it inside" I skilfully picked up the cake making sure I didn't damage it in the process. A skill I picked up back from my waitressing days years ago before I met him.
"Aunty Nicki" I looked down at my God son bash who was tapping on my leg. "What's wrong baby?"
"Cake please?" He asked sweetly. "I'm just going to cut it now, I'll be back soon okay" he nodded and ran off back to play with the other kids who filled my backyard."Okay where do I start" I asked myself analysing the huge cake once I sat it down on the kitchen counter.
"You can start by coming over here" I jumped at the sound of his voice and looked up quickly.
I stood frozen. For a minute I thought my mind was playing tricks on me and he wasn't really here until he chuckled and began to approach me.
I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out. "This is new... You being lost for words" he rubbed the back of his neck nervously as we stood inches apart.
I started to walk away trying to avoid the situation until I realised I couldn't keep running away from him. Slowly I leaned against the door frame preparing myself to finally talk to him.
"What are you doing here?"
"Ouch Nic that's hurts, I wouldn't have thought you'd be happy to see me." I rolled my eyes ignoring anything he said.
"Who let you in?" I asked crossing my arms over my chest.
"Nobody the door was open you got people coming in and out of here. What's up with that? You having a party?"
I sucked my teeth and stepped away from him shaking my head. "Yes I am-"
"For what? I know it ain't your birthday .""When you decided to walk through my house did you bother to look around maybe?" He shrugged looking around the kitchen trying to find out what I meant.
"It's your sons birthday Aubrey." I sighed. He walked around the kitchen awkwardly with his hands in his pockets.
"Oh... Noah told me you kept the baby"
"Well what else was I suppose to do with him!" I snapped.
"Mommy!" Both our heads looked in the direction of the door as King walked in with chocolate smeared around his mouth causing me to smile.
"Yes baby boy?" I smiled picking him up and sat him on the counter. "Aunty Chy said you're taking too long with the cake"
"Oh I'm sorry baby I got a little distracted." I apologised running my hand over his hair which looked completely different from when I saw him earlier.
In the space of 3 hours he had managed to make a mess of his hair that I did freshly this morning.
He pushed my hand away and held out his arms for me to help him down. "Hold on let me clean your face." I turned around and wet a paper towel so I could wipe his face.
"Alright all done. Tell Aunty Chy I'll be out in a minute I'm-" he ran off before I could complete my sentence.
"That's him?"
"What are you even doing here? Shouldn't you be out somewhere being 'Drake' doing whatever you rappers do with your free time!"
"I came to see you, check on how you're doing" he said thinking his words would make everything better.
"Well you're about 4 years too late. You know I had to drop out of Nursing school. I had to give up on my dream while you was travelling the world living yours." I told him.
"WHY DID COME BACK? WE DONT NEED YOU." I shouted. Seeing him here stood in my home brought back so many memories and thoughts that I couldn't handle.
"Nicki I'm sorry" he reached for my arm but I pulled away roughly. "Get out"
"I'm not leaving you like this""Like what? I'm fine. Why do you care about how I feel all of a sudden? Do you wanna know when I really needed you?" He stated silent and I could tell he wasn't sure if I seriously wanted him to answer my question or not.
"The time I needed you was when my baby boy was born premature, relying on machines to keep his heart going.
I needed you when I was told he wouldn't make it past two weeks.
I needed you when my brother was shot and killed.
I needed you when I couldn't keep a job and had no choice but to move in with my mother."
"All the time I needed you, you wasn't there now you want to show up when I'm happy and at peace with everything. It's too late."
"I'm so-" I held my hand up in his face, stopping him before the word could leave his mouth.
"don't fucking say it. I'm tired of being lied to.""I'm serious. I admit I did some damage but I'm here to repair it. I wanna build a relationship with my son... And you." Again he tried to reach out for my waist but I pushed him off.
"I know it sounds cliche but every time I achieved something in my career I couldn't help but feel like something was missing. I'm sitting at the Grammys thinking you should be sat right beside me. "
"You're the only person I've been in love with and can honestly say I'd die for you and will do anything to see you happy." He said and I could tell by the tone in his voice and his eyes that he meant what he was saying.
I nodded and decided to put him to the test. "anything?"
"anything baby. I promise tell me and I'll do it."
"Leave. Leave us alone and don't come back. We don't need you."
